Debut The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds

Seres is a supporting character from The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds who appeared as one of the game's seven sages.

Background[edit]

Seres was the daughter of the Sanctuary's priest and a descendant of the original seven sages. She spent most of her time helping her father at the Sanctuary. Seres was nice and friendly towards others, and she was described by Dampé as being "carefree as a bird". Many held her in high regard, and she often talked to the captain of Hyrule's guard when he visited the Sanctuary. According to Dampé, Seres was the real reason that the captain visited the Sanctuary as often as he did, but she was oblivious to that.

During the events of A Link Between Worlds, the Sanctuary was attacked by the sorcerer Yuga. He transformed the captain into a painting when he tried to intervene, much to Seres's horror. He then turned Seres into a painting as well, due to her being descended from the seven sages. She was the first of the new sages who had been targetted by Yuga. Once he captured them all, the paintings of the seven sages and Princess Zelda were then used by Yuga in a ritual to revive Ganon. Afterwards, the paintings were distributed to different bosses across Lorule. Seres's painting was kept in the middle of the Skull Woods and guarded by Knucklemaster. Eventually, Link came along and saved her, at which point she was awakened as a sage and was transported to the Chamber of Sages. There, she thanked him and remarked that he must have grown quite strong.

Once all of the sages were freed, they combined their powers to summon the Triforce of Courage for Link. After the crisis was resolved, the sages were all returned to Hyrule. Seres went back to the Sanctuary, where she was reunited with her father, the captain and Dampé. During the end credits, she was seen laughing while the captain showed off his sword.

Trivia[edit]

  • She may be named after the Roman goddess of agriculture. Her name my be derived from the name 'Celeste', which means 'heavenly', which would refer to her role at the Sanctuary, and is also a Spanish word for "sky-blue", which would fit how all of the other sages from A Link Between Worlds who were new characters have names based on different colors.
  • She is also the only member of her iteration of the seven sages who resembles the maidens from A Link the the Past.
  • In Breath of the Wild, an area of Central Hyrule called the Seres Scablands seems to be named in reference to her.
