Leanne is a supporting character in the story of Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance. She returns as a playable unit in Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn.

Background[edit]

Leanne was the youngest of the daughters of Lorazieh, the king of the laguz heron tribe based in Serenes Forest. She was very close to her old brother, Reyson. She also came to know Naesala, who took care of her and Reyson when they were children, and Tibarn, kings of other bird tribes. However, the tragedy of the Serenes Massacre occurred when Leanne was only an infant (or at least an infant by heron standards, since most laguz aged slowly). The massacre occurred when an angry mob of beorcs from Begnion, believing the herons to be responsible for their apostle's assassination, attacked the forest and burned it down, killing nearly all of the herons.

Leanne was initially believed dead during the massacre. However, her sisters had taken her to the heron shrine and hid her there, singing a galdr to her in order to make her sleepy. The forest protected Leanne and kept her asleep for years.

Path of Radiance[edit]

She was not seen again until twenty years later in "Chapter 17: Dawn Breaks". Ike and the Greil Mercenaries discovered her when they were traveling through the forest, but Leanne panicked at the site of beorcs and fainted. However, Ike took Leanne's unconscious form and carried her on his back in order to protect her at the cost of his mobility against Oliver and his men, as Oliver was seeking Reyson to make him his slave and would do the same to Leanne.

After the battle, she woke up when Reyson called out to her. She was reunited with Reyson and Tibarn after all those years and explained how she had survived. Afterwards, Sanaki, the current apostle of Begnion, came before them to apologize for the actions of her people twenty years ago. Leanne knew of what had happened and still she convinced Reyson to accept her apology, as she told him he should not allow himself to lose himself to hate because of all the sadness and pain clouding his soul. Together, he and Leanne sang a galdr at the shrine which restored life to Serenes Forest. Leanne then went to Phoenicis with Tibarn where her father (the only other known heron survivor at the time) was staying, while Reyson joined with the Crimean Liberation Army in order to thank Ike for saving his sister.

However, in "Chapter 25: Strange Lands", the Black Knight sneaked into Tibarn's home and captured Leanne. Ashnard had hoped to find a way to force her to use the release galdr to release the dark god from Lehran's Medallion. She was held in the Gritnea Tower, but luckily she was saved before the torture could begin. She was rescued in "Chapter 28: Twisted Tower" by Naesala, whom had disguised himself as a beorc guard to infiltrated the tower, and the two were happy to see each other again.

Leanne then accompanied the Crimean Liberation Army but did not join them in battle. After the final battle, it was Leanne who recognized that Rajaion was truly a deformed dragon laguz. She and Reyson sang the special galdr again in order to restore Rajaion to his original form for his dying moments. Afterwards, Mist entrusted Lehran's Medallion to Leanne, since it originally belonged to Leanne's ancestor. Reyson and Leanne then went to bring their father to Gallia so they could live near a forest again.

Radiant Dawn[edit]

Reyson and Leanne lived peacefully in Gallia for the next three years. During this time period, Leanne also began to learn some of the modern tongue. They later met another long lost heron, Rafiel, although the reunion was not that joyful as it came with news that the Begnion senators were responsible for the Serenes Massacre. This provoked the laguz into war. Leanne then set out towards Crimea with Nealuchi so she could ask Ike to help her brothers. However, they were then harassed by Begnion dracoknights that attempted to capture Leanne for the laguz slave trade in "Prologue: Drifting Through the Clouds" of "Part 2: Of Countries and Kings". Luckily they were saved by Elincia and Marcia, who then escorted them to the Crimean palace as guests of honor until they could discover Ike's whereabouts, as Ike and his mercenary group had been keeping a low profile.

Leanne and Nealuchi later convinced Lucia to let them accompany her to investigate Lord Ludveck's manor in "Chapter 2: Tides of Intrigue" and wound up aiding in the following battle. She also joined them on the battlefield in "Endgame: Elincia's Gambit". After the battle ended, she was able to meet with Ike, but he was unsure what Leanne meant by her request to help his brothers. He eventually heard the full story from Ranulf. When the Laguz Alliance Army marched into war with Begnion in "Part 3: Intersecting Vows", the three heron siblings stayed behind to watch over Lehran's Medallion so that they could prevent the dark god from being released due to the negative energies of the war.

When Tibarn went to help the Laguz Alliance Army in the battle with Daein soldiers in "Chapter 11: Just Cause". After the battle, she returned to looking over the medallion. However in "Endgame: From Pain, Awakening", Reyson and Rafiel went off to help the others in the war, leaving Leanne to look over the medallion alone. She was unable to control the medallion by herself, however, and was knocked out by the negative energy. She soon awoke and, in "Part 4: Of Gods and Men", she was sent to accompany the Silver Army. When Skrimir was intent on tearing Naesala apart in "Prologue: Chaos Named" and Naesala wanted him to, Leanne and Nealuchi got in the way, determined to give their lives to protect Naesala, so he called of the battle. Leanne could also be chosen as the heron to accompany Ike's group in the storming of the Tower of Guidance in "Endgame: Rebirth".

After the war, Rafiel was able to revive Lorazieh with a special ceremony. Leanne and Lorazieh then used their songs to inspire those who worked at building a kingdom for the bird laguz in Serenes Forest. If she had an A Rank Support with Naesala, the two were married and had two children, a heron girl and a raven boy. It was said that she had always loved him.

Trivia[edit]
