Marcia is a playable unit in Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, in which she is the first playable pegasus knight, and its sequel Radiant Dawn.

Background[edit]

Marcia was one of the holy pegasus knights of Begnion, and she learned under the strict deputy commander Tanith. She often had to look out for her gambling brother Makalov and helped him out of the many messes he often got himself into. But at one point, Makalov went missing after he wound up with a massive debt. With Makalov gone, debt collectors began coming to the barracks of the pegasus knights in an attempt to get the money from Marcia. Marcia set off in search of her brother, but she often wound up getting into fights with Makalov's former employers.

Path of Radiance[edit]

One such case occurred in "Chapter 3: Pirates Aground", when the Havetti's pirate crew tried to make her work off her father's debt and pretended to know where he was. After she found out that hey had tossed him overboard, Marcia was angry at being tricked and began attacking them. Marcia was nearly overwhelmed by the great numbers, but Ike arrived with the Greil Mercenaries in time to save her. If Ike talked to her, Marcia thanked Ike for his help and, after asking for his name, she retreated to safety.

Afterwards, Marcia resigned from the Begnion knights in order to focus on her search for Makalov. She sought out the Greil Mercenaries, hoping to join them in order to repay Ike for helping her and also so that they could help her find her brother. Marcia met up with the mercenaries in "Chapter 9: Gallia". After talking to Ike again, she joined the Greil Mercenaries and began traveling with them. They traveled to Begnion soon afterwards, and Marcia was embarrassed to return there due to her resignation from the holy pegasus knights. However, it was there that she met up with Makalov again in "Chapter 14: Training". She found him working for enemy bandits and forced him to switch over to their side. After Ike's adventure was complete, Marcia rejoined Begnion's holy knights.

Radiant Dawn[edit]

Instead of rejoining the holy knights, Marcia became a Royal Knight of Queen Elincia. The two became good friends over the next three years, and Marcia often comforted Elincia when she was overwhelmed by the stress of her duties. Makalov also came with Marcia and resumed his usual bad habits, but this time he had Astrid to help defend him from Marcia's nagging. In "Prologue: On Drifting Clouds" of "Part 2: Of Countries and Kings", she was comforting Elincia when they witnessed Leanne and Nealuchi being attacked by Begnion dracoknights. Marcia and Elincia then fought together to protect them. Marcia then fought under Geoffrey in the raid on Lord Ludveck's manor in "Chapter 3: Geoffrey's Charge". Afterwards, the Royal Knights proceeded towards Fort Alpea to protect Elincia from the remainder of Ludveck's men. Marcia managed to take an old highway and arrive before the others at the beginning of "Endgame: Elincia's Gambit".

In "Part 3: Intersecting Vows", Marcia fought alongside her fellow Royal Knights in the chapters involving them. They were later sent to fight in the Laguz Alliance Army for "Endgame: From Pain Awakening", and afterwards she was sent to one of three smaller armies for "Part 4: Of Gods and Men". After the war, Marcia continued to show her dedication as one of Crimea's pegasus knights and patrolled Crimea's skies vigilantly.

Support Conversation Summaries[edit]

In Path of Radiance, Marcia is capable of having Support conversations with four other characters.

  • Gatrie- Gatrie meets up with Marcia and comments on how Titania used to be their only female mercenary, but things have started to shape up in his absence. Marcia recognizes him as one of the mercenaries who helped to fight off the pirates (from Chapter 3) and promises to return the favor. Gatrie assures her that her being talented and gorgeous is repayment enough. In the next conversation, Gatrie invites Marcia to watch him in a sparring match with Ike and brags about his abilities, but he is given a humiliating defeat at Ike's hands. In the final conversation, Gatrie wallows in his misery until Marcia cheers him up by saying that Ike could beat anybody and Gatrie still seemed very strong. She asks Gatrie to be her sparring partner, and Gatrie agrees, thinking that the embarrassing defeat could turn out to be a blessing in disguise.
  • Kieran- Seeing the advantages of training against a pegasus-mounted unit, Kieran introduces himself to Marcia, but he finds she already knows his name. He assumes her heard his name from one of his supposedly famous adventures and begins guessing which of his battles she knew his name from, but she then admits she knows because he declares it every time they go into battle. By then Kieran had forgotten what he intended to ask Marcia, and she leaves. In the next conversation, Kieran thanks Marcia after she had helped Kieran's horse recover from an illness. He promises to return the favor, and at the same time he once again forgets what he had intended to ask Marcia. In the final conversation, Kieran decides to clean his horse, and Marcia is surprised to find that he sees his horse as his brother-in-arms rather than as a source of transportation, and Marcia finds it admirable, but Kieran dismisses this by saying it is simple common sense. Kieran then begins to go into one of his long-winded battle stories, so Marcia excuses herself.
  • Rolf- In the first conversation, Marcia finds Rolf while he is practicing and treats him like a child, but Rolf is angered by this and insists that he is a dangerous mercenary. In the second conversation, Marcia is impressed by the results of Rolf's training exercise, but Rolf considers himself imperfect for only hitting twenty-six of thirty targets. Rolf tells Marcia he is not a child because his childhood ended with his first kill. Marcia admits she still worries about him due to his being a child, but Rolf tells her not to because he's grown strong and can take care of himself. In the third conversation, Rolf manages to get all of his targets but still thinks of ways to improve, and Marcia is shocked to see how blistered his hands were so she treats him with a vulnerary. Marcia compliments him for his determination, which will help against the enemy. The two each say they will protect each other, and Marcia laments that Rolf had to grow up so fast.
  • Tanith- Marcia is horrified to find her former superior among their ranks. Tanith is furious with Marcia and plans to punish Marcia for deserting the Begnion knights. Marcia reminds her that she wrote a letter of resignation, and Tanith confirms that Sigrun was willing to let her go, but Tanith was not. In the next conversation, Tanith corners Marcia and forces her to tell her why she quit, and Marcia recounts her brother's story. Afterwards, Tanith feels sympathy but at the same time tells Marcia she is still a deserter and will still be punished. In the final conversation, Marcia tries in vain to convince Tanith to excuse her from her punishment, and then she asks Tanith why she is being so mean to her. Tanith confesses that she was always so hard on Marcia because she saw great potential in her and thought she could one day become commander of Begnion's holy knights. Tanith then decides to arrange for Marcia to return to Begnion's knights after the war, and she promised not to punish her for deserting if she returned. Marcia appreciates this.

Marcia also has in-built Support bonuses with Makalov (which increases the chance of Marcia delivering a critical hit when he is nearby, or vice-versa) and Tanith (which protects Marcia from enemy critical attacks when Tanith is nearby).

In Radiant Dawn, Marcia has an automatic Bond Support with Makalov.

Trivia[edit]

  • She is capable of performing a Sword Triangle Attack with Tanith and Elincia under certain condition in Path of Radiance. Marcia must have promoted to a Falcon Knight prior to Chapter 28. They must then participate in the "Holy Knight" Base Conversation in Chapter 28. In Radiant Dawn she can also perform the Triangle Attack with Sigrun in place of either Tanith or Elincia, and there is no longer a Base Conversation needed to trigger the Triangle Attack.
  • Unused Path of Radiance data indicates that at one point Marcia was intended to also have support conversations with Mia.
