Background[edit]

Skrimir was the brazen young nephew of Caineghis and so was his heir to become king of Gallia. He proved his strength by completing a series of trials by combat, which proved his right to succeed Caineghis as king. Skrimir was more like a typical laguz than the more peaceful Caineghis, as Skrimir was hot-headed and lived for combat, although it is suggested that Caineghis was similar when he was Skrimir's age.

Skrimir received his test in "Part 3: Intersecting Vows" when he was appointed commanding general of the Gallian forces as part of the Laguz Alliance Army in the war against Begnion, as neither Caineghis or Giffca could abandojn their duties to lead instead. Ranulf was appointed his second-in-command in order so that he could provide the strategy and details that Skrimir overlooked, and Ranulf attempted to keep him in line so that he did not doom the war with his arrogance. The Greil Mercenaries were also enlisted to aid in both manpower and strategy. Skrimir had been told by his uncle to observe Ike carefully since he could learn much from him. At the same time, Skrimir became amused by Soren, the small strategist of the mercenaries. Skrimir was initially doubtful of Soren's intelligence, but Skrimir eventually began looking forward to strategy discussions to say what Soren had thought of this time.

The first roadblock came when Naesala's betrayal cauesd the birds to fail in preventing the advance of the Begnion Central Army in "Chapter 2: Stormclouds". Skrimir had been bored by the previous battles and was eager to take them on immediately. But Ranulf knew that the Central Army was too powerful, and in an attempt to convince him to back down, he transformed to battle Skrimir. Skrimir won the battle, but he decided to follow Ranulf's advice anyway and pulled back his troops. With patience and strategical planning, the Laguz Alliance Army had set up for a three-pronged attack on General Zelgius in "Chapter 4: The General's Hand". However, everything fell apart after Zelgius challenged Skrimir to a duel, which caused him to abandon his troops and scale a mountain to battle Zelgius. Ike and Ranulf led the troops up the mountain in an attempt to stop Skrimir before it was too late. But by the time they arrived, the duel had already begun. Zelgius easily overpowered and defeated Skrimir, then gave the Laguz Alliance three days to retreat.

As the troops retreated, Skrimir was ashamed with himself for his defeat although he did have to be restrained from entering battle in "Chapter 6: A Reason to Fight". He later took command of the army again, despite his wounds, to boost the morale of his soldiers. He was later shocked by Dheginsea when meeting him for the first time in "Chapter 8: Incandescent Glow" due to his disregard for the wellbeing of his fellow laguz. They finally returned to Castle Gallia in "Chapter 10: The Heart of Crimea". Skrimir then asked join in on the mission to the northern border in order to reclaim his honor, a motion surprisingly seconded by Ranulf, and Caineghis approved. Tibarn and Skrimir later retreated in order to honor Elincia's motion of peace. The Laguz Alliance than moved against Daein. Skrimir then obeyed Ike's suggestion to stand down as to not frighten the Daein soldiers into attack.

Then in "Part 4: Of Gods and Men", Skrimir was assigned to fight as part of the Silver Army. In "Prologue: Chaos Named", he met Naesala and, furious at him for his betrayal, wanted to tear him apart, and Naesala encouraged him to. However, Leanne and Nealuchi got in the way, which led Skrimir and Naesala to call off the battle under the pretense that Tibarn had more reason to kill Naesala and should be given the chance to kill him instead. He also found a satori sign that Micaiah had seen in a vision from Yune.

After the war ended, Caineghis immediately abdicated the throne, and Skrimir became Gallia's new king with Ranulf as his adviser (although in an alternate ending Ranulf instead accompanied Ike on a journey). King Skrimir patrolled Gallia's borders vigorously and won the love of his people with his large heart. Alternately, if Skrimir had been killed in battle, then Caineghis continued coping with being king until a new heir could be chosen.
