Gorea is a powerful being that was the downfall of the Alimbic society. He is the final boss of Metroid Prime Hunters.

Background[edit]

The interstellar menace known as Gorea landed on Alinos an unspecified amount of time ago. The occupants of the planet were the powerful Alimbic race whose military might had made them nearly unstoppable. When Gorea arrived, he was still liquid in form, but soon gained shape when he absorbed the DNA of the Alimbics. He uttered his name to them and turned his attacks on them.

Any weapon the Alimbics used on Gorea were turned on them. They could not harm him, but they had no way of defending their selves from him. As the Alimbics continued to fight a losing war for three months, they soon realized that if they were wiped out, that Gorea might spread his destruction across the galaxy. In a last bid to stop him, the Alimbic Elders became telepathic beings. They constructed the Oubliette and transfered their souls into eight Octoliths to seal Gorea away. In it also went the Omega Cannon, a weapon so powerful that their own elders forbid its use.

Following this the Octoliths were hidden in different corners of the two Alimbic planets and space stations. It was their desire that the Octoliths never be used to release Gorea. As such, they left messages warning any potential power seekers to not release Gorea at any cost. The remaining Alimbics still alive transferred their spirits into the Seal Sphere, marking the end of their race and long history.

In time, Gorea developed telepathic abilities of his own. In order to engineer his escape, he sent out a message across the galaxy promising that the 'ultimate power' lie in the Tetra Galaxy of the lost Alimbic Society. The message was received by seven bounty hunters, Samus Aran among them, who traveled there to find the power.

Ultimately Samus collected the eight Octoliths and released the Oubliette from the other dimension it was hidden in. Before she could arrive, the other six bounty hunters arrived and faced Gorea. When they tried to attack him, Gorea absorbed their weapons and sent them flying. Samus Aran then took on Gorea alone. Bu fulfilling the Alimbic prophecy, she was able to access the Omega Cannon and bring about Gorea's final end.

Trivia[edit]

  • Gorea's backstory has notable similarities to Metroid Prime. This has led some to believe that Gorea may have originated from Phaaze since the game exists in the Prime series.
