The Alimbic are an ancient race of beings from a distant galaxy. Though having long passed away, they appear in the ending cutscene of Metroid Prime Hunters.

Information

The Alimbics were a highly advanced race of people who lived in the Tetra Galaxy. In their ancient days, they were a tribal people who lived in peace. However, this culture was ended after repelling a alien invasion. They quickly set their minds to work on developing superior technology and soon surpassed those of their enemies. They were led in the Tetra Border Wars by General Almiiak. Afterwards he established the Alimbic Elders to govern over their people. In time, they grew so proficient in matters of war that they considered theirselves invunerable.

Their advanced forelobes allowed the Alimbics to advance quickly as well as use psychic abilities. The works of Arctherus, particular in neurogenesis, ushered the Alimbics into the modern era. Their technology futher improved with many technological wonders, such as the Guardians, Slenches, and Cretaphids. They also constructed the large space staions - the Celestial Archives and the Vesper Defense Outpost. They also spread from their homeworld of Alinos and made their home on Arcterra as well.

The downfall of the Alimbics was brought in by the arrival of Gorea. In time, Alinos was ruined and the Alimbic people were close to utter defeat. In order to prevent Gorea from spreading through the galaxy, they used their own spirits to encase Gorea inside the Oubliette, a dimensional prison held by the Seal Sphere. The Elders transferred their souls into the Octoliths and spread them across the Alimbic Cluster, to prevent the seal from being broken.

Utlimately Gorea was defeated by Samus Aran after she had gathered the Octoliths. The spirits of the Alimbics were released, though it is unknown if they returned to their physical form afterwards.

Trivia

• Their bodies are similar in appearance to Krikens (including the floating head), but are more earth colored.
• It's possible that the Ambilics also participated in studying creatures from other planets due to the presence of War Wasps, Geemers, and other foreign species inside the Alimbic's strongholds.
