Geeta is a Pokémon trainer who is featured as one of the ultimate opponents in the ninth generation games of the Pokémon series, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. She is the Top Champion of the Paldea region and the chairwoman of its Pokémon League as well as its prestigious academy, and she is also known by the nickname of La Primera due to her skill. She does not have a set Pokémon type.

Background[edit]

Geeta was a skilled trainer who managed to obtain the top ranks of the Paldea region's Pokémon League, becoming both its chairwoman and its Top Champion. She presented herself in a very calm manner, but when she was unable to hold back her power when it came to Pokémon battles, a trait which she felt was 'inappropriate for a League Chairwoman'. Geeta stood as the final challenge in Paldea's Champion Assessment and was tough enough that the only person to achieve the Champion Rank in recent times was Nemona, who idolized Geeta. At the same time, Geeta suspected that Nemona was holding back against her because she had not yet found a rival she could go all-out against. Geeta also assembled all of Paldea's current Elite Four members, with Rika indicating that she strongarmed them all into joining and Larry feeling beleaguered working for her. As part of her duties, she also held inspections of Paldea's Pokémon Gyms and made suggestions to some of the League's trainers, such as encouraging Katy to go easy on her challengers due to it being the first gym for most challengers and making Larry use a different Pokémon type from his normal specialty when acting as an Elite Four member. Many seemed to consider her to be harsh, but she was still admired for her prowess as a Pokémon trainer.

During the events of Scarlet/Violet, she first made a brief appearance at the Academy, one her way out of the Staff Room after delegating a task to Nemona. She briefly bumped into Florian/Juliana on her way out, but she did not properly meet them until later. During the Victory Road storyline, she first met with the trainer after they completed their third gym battle. She saw the trainer had a rare talent and introduced herself as the League's chairwoman. Later on, Geeta watched Florian/Juliana's fifth gym battle to scout them at Rika's suggestion. Nemona was also there, and Geeta decided to observe a battle between her and Florian/Juliana. She made sure their Pokémon were healed up for the battle and gave the young trainer TM171: Tera Blast. From observing the battle, she noticed that Nemona was coming to see Florian/Juliana as a true rival. Geeta appeared again after the trainer won their eighth and final badge in order to tell them they could now come to the Pokémon League to take on the Champion Assessment and talked some more about Nemona's rivalry with the trainer. After welcoming the trainer outside the Pokémon League and wishing them luck, she waited for the final stage of the Champion Assessment.

After Florian/Juliana completed the Elite Test by beating the Elite Four, they faced Geeta as the final part of the Champion Assessment. After being defeated, Geeta congratulated Florian/Juliana and bestowed the Champion Rank upon them. She referred to Pokémon Trainers as the treasures of Paldea and Champions as the jewels that shone the brightest. When Nemona showed up to challenge Florian/Juliana, Geeta suggested that they battle somewhere important to them and let the new Champion rest first. She proceeded to oversee the battle, which took place by the academy.

During the postgame, Geeta appeared at Director Clavell's office at the academy. A school tournament had been proposed, and Geeta offered to help organize it through the Pokémon League. She suggested that the faculty take part in the tournament as well, Nemona also suggested that Geeta participate herself. In order to clear time in her busy schedule to take part in the tournament, Geeta had Florian/Juliana held her with her work by having them run an inspection of the region's Pokémon Gyms in her place. Geeta also recruited Penny to patch weaknesses in their League Point system as punishment for the League Points she had stolen through her hacking. After the gym inspection was complete, Geeta met with Florian/Juliana in their dorm to discuss their findings. She asked them which Gym Leader was the easiest to battle, which left the strongest impression on them, which one gave them the most trouble and which they liked the most. She also showed curiosity about the environment which shaped Florian/Juliana's potential as a champion and decided to visit the trainer's home sometime. Afterwards, Geeta took part in the school tournament, which ended up being called the Academy Ace Tournament. During the first tournament, Geeta acted as the final opponent for Florian/Juliana. During later tournaments, Geeta was one of four trainers who could randomly appear as the final opponent.

Trivia[edit]

  • Her Japanese name is Omodaka, named after the Japanese name for the threeleaf arrowhead. Her English name of Geeta seems to be derived from Sagittaria, the name of the plant genus containing the threeleaf arrowhead.
  • Geeta designed the entrance hall for the academy several years ago and chose to fill it with books.
