The Villager is the name used to refer to the player's character from the Animal Crossing series. In each game, the player can choose the character's name and gender, and their appearance can also be customized. The name of Villager was introduced for the character's guest appearance in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U.

  • The Villager appears as a playable fighter in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The Villager's default appearance s a boy based on the design used for Animal Crossing: City Folk artwork. However, the Villager's alternate costumes all have different appearances, in order to reference the variety of player characters that can be created in the series, and these incude girl Villagers. In battle, the Villager uses a variety of moves based on actions from the Animal Crossing games, such as attacking with a shovel or a bug-catching net, although he also has an attack based on Balloon Fight.
    • In Super Smash Bros Brawl, a trophy appeared for a male Villager, then referred to as "Animal Crossing Boy", and there were also stickers for Villager characters (one boy and one girl). In the 3DS/Wii U game, both versions included two unlockable trophies for the Villager, and the Wii U version also included an unlockable trophy for his Final Smash.
  • In Mario Kart 8, male and female varients of the Villager (based on Animal Crossing: New Leaf art) appeared as downloadable characters, available for purchase as part of the Animal Crossing x Mario Kart DLC pack. They reappear in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as ordinary playable characters.
  • In Super Mario Maker, an 8-bit version of the Villager's Smash appearance was included appearance was included as one of the costumes that Mario could wear with the Mystery Mushroom, and this costume was unlocked by scanning a Villager amiibo or as as random prize for completing the 100-Mario Challenge on Expert Mode or higher.
