Other Appearances[edit]

Video Games[edit]

  • In Super Mario Maker, Shulk appears as one of the costumes that Mario can transform into when using a Mystery Mushroom. Shulk's costume can be unlocked by scanning an amiibo of Shulk or by clearing a 100 Mario Challenge on Normal or harder.
  • In Yoshi's Woolly World, scanning an amiibo of Shulk will unlock a pattern for Yoshi based on Shulk's appearance.

Super Smash Bros.[edit]

In the Super Smash Bros. series, Shulk has been included as a playable fighter in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. In battle, he primarily uses the Monado for sword attacks. His down special move allows him to select one of the Monado Arts to temporarily bring into play and raise one stat at the cost of others. The available arts include three from the original game (Buster, Shield and Speed), with two more that were created for Smash Bros. (Jump and Smash). His future vision is also reflected in his counterattack move, simply known as Vision. Shulk was part of the initial roster in the 3DS/Wii U game, but in Ultimate, he had to be unlocked either through the game's variable-based system for unlocking characters, or by awakening him in Adventure Mode.

In the 3DS/Wii U game, there are two unlockable trophies for Shulk, and there is also a trophy for his Final Smash in the Wii U game. In Ultimate, Shulk has his own Fighter Spirit that can be won with Shulk's completion of Classic Mode or purchased through the Vault's shop.

Ultimate: Adventure and Classic Modes[edit]

In the Adventure Mode of Ultimate, "World of Light", Shulk was seen during the opening cutscene among the force that had assembled to oppose Galeem and his Master Hand army. Shulk's Vision ability activated, and he foresaw that Galeem would wipe them all out with beams of light. He started to move to warn the others, but it was too late, as Galeem then unleashed the beams of light just as in Shulk's vision. All of the fighters except for Kirby were overtaken by the beams of light and fell under Galeem's control. Shulk could later be found at the mouth of the waterfall in the eastern part of the Light Realm. By defeating him in battle, he would be awakened as his true self and join the playable roster.

Shulk's Classic Mode route was called "Witness the Monado's Power". The theme of this route was that each battle would feature an opponent or several opponents who represented a different Monado Art. The sixth and last-pre boss battle of the route was against Mega Man, who seemed to be representing the Enchant Art, one of the arts that was not used in Super Smash Bros.. The final boss of his route is Master Hand (joined by Crazy Hand on higher difficulties).

Trivia[edit]

  • He has a fear of caterpillars. It apparently originated from Reyn hiding one in his sock drawer.
