Roy is a character from the Fire Emblem character and the star of Fire Emblem: The Sword of Seals.

Background

Roy is the son of Eliwood, a skilled swordsman. It's not known who Roy's mother is, though the leading candidates include Ninian, Lyn, and Fiora.

When Roy is fifteen, Bern has conquered to neighboring kingdoms. In order to prevent this from happening to the Lycian Alliance, each province has to send an army to defend the nation. Roy's father is ill, so Roy must lead Pherae's army in his place.

On the way to Araphen, the province closest to Bern territory, Roy meets Guinevere, a princess of Bern. She ran away from her home country in order to stop the imminent war between Lycia and Bern.

In battle, Hector, a friend of Roy's family died. This prompted Roy to vow to protect Guinevere and Hector's daughter Lilna, as well as to stop King Zephiel's plans for world conquest. In the end, Roy was able to stop Zephiel's plans and Zephiel was killed by Roy's forces.

• Roy is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Melee. It's unknown if he will return for Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Roy also makes a cameo appearance in Fire Emblem: The Blazing Sword.

Trivia

• Roy was only including in Super Smash Bros. Melee to advertise Fire Emblem: Sword of Seals in Japan. Originally, he wasn't going to be included in the American version of the game.
