Ena is an enemy unit and later supporting character in Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance who can later become a playable unit depending on certain circumstances. She is also playable in the sequel, Radiant Dawn.

Background[edit]

Ena was born part of the Dragon Tribe in Goldoa. At one point her parents died, but she was able to continue on even though her grandfather Nasir was unable to help her. Eventually she fell in love with a fellow Goldoan named Rajaion, and they were engaged. However, around the year 625, Rajaion left Goldoa in order to travel and expand his knowledge. Rajaion never returned, so Ena eventually set out in search of him. She eventually found him some nineteen years later, and she found to her horror that he had been corrupted and warped into the wyvern-like steed of the Mad King Ashnard of Daein. She called on Nasir for help, and he took her to Daein. Rajaion no longer recognized Ena but she entered Daein's service anyway in hopes of being close to Rajaion.

Path of Radiance[edit]

However, Ashnard saw that Ena's presence made Rajaion feel uncomfortable, so he sent her away to work as a tactician for Petrine. She was first seen in "Chapter 5: Flight!", giving advice to Ena. Petrine was at first insulted at having a child giving her advice (although due to Goldoans' slow aging, Ena was likely to be several hundred years old), but she soon began to appreciate Ena's strategic mind. At Ena's request, Nasir was also planted with the Crimean forces in order to spy on them for Daein. But in "Chapter 20: Defending Talrega", Ena was assigned to command the forces at the Daein capital while the Crimean Liberation Army marched towards them, and the rest of the Daein forces (including Ashnard and Rajaion) had inhabited Crimea's capital. Nasir found that out from Ena when he delivered Lehran's Medallion to her. Ena told Nasir that she was determined to see Rajaion again, even if she had to slaughter the entire Crimean army to do so, and she told Nasir he was now free and no longer needed to help her.

Ena unveiled her dragon form to fight off the Crimean Liberation Army as the boss of "Chapter 21: Without a King". She was eventually defeated. However, Nasir intervened and attacked the army's commander, Ike, which allowed Ena the opening she needed to flee. Ena made her way towards Crimea to find Rajaion, but she was captured by Petrine's men, as Ashnard had ordered Ena's death. However, Petrine herself had been killed in battle shortly afterwards and her soldiers were not sure what they were supposed to do with Ena, so she remained imprisoned in Nados Castle until the Black Knight was sent to kill her in "Chapter 27: Moment of Fate". He promised her a swift death, and she asked him to tell Nasir she was sorry as his last wish, but with his first blow the Black Knight knocked Ena out instead of killing her. At that point Ike and Mist intervened. Nasir arrived after the battle was over. Depending on the battle's outcome, either the Black Knight was defeated and they all escaped together, or Nasir seemingly sacrificed himself in order to hold off the Black Knight while the castle collapsed on them.

Ena was willing to redeem herself for the Crimean Liberation Army and so directed them to Gritnea Tower, where she knew that Leanne was being held captive. In "Chapter 28: Twisted Tower", Ena began fighting in the Crimean Liberation Army but only if Nasir was presumed death (essentially, choosing whether or not to defeat the Black Knight chooses decides whether it is Nasir or Ena who becomes playable in the following chapter). In "Endgame: Repatriation", Ashnard was killed in the final battle, and Rajaion also began to die. Ena stayed close to Rajaion's side in his last moments, and Reyson and Leanne sung their galdr together to revert Rajaion to his original form, at which point he recognized Ena. Afterwards, Ena and Nasir (if he was still alive) returned to Goldoa in order to bury Rajaion.

Radiant Dawn[edit]

Nasir and Ena remained in Goldoa in service of Dheginsea. Three years later, Ena and Nasir first appeared in "Chapter 8: Incandescent Glow" of "Part 3: Intersecting Vows". They persuaded Dheginsea to let them escort the Laguz Alliance Army to Gallia's borders instead of condemning them to death. Ena later left Goldoa with the prince, Kurthnaga, in order to attempt to stop the fighting between the Laguz Alliance Army and the Daein army, without the Dragon King's knowledge in "Chapter 13: Blood Pact". The peace talks failed when Kurthnaga sided with the Daein Army in "Endgame: From Pain, Awakening".

After the awakening of Yune, Ena decided to support her in the battle against Ashera. Ena was then assigned to travel with the Greil Army. She mostly watched over Kurthnaga, whom had been traumatized by the experiences of entering battle. In the Base Conversation of "Final Chapter: Rebirth", she was reunited with Almedha, the sister of Kurthnaga and Rajaion whom Ashnard had used to lure Rajaion into his trap. Almedha felt great guilt and thought Ena hated her, but Ena said that she did not hold Almedha responsible and that it was Rajaion's decision, so he could not blame her for his nobility. Nasir came to visit them in order to ask Kurthnaga and Ena to come with him in joining Dheginsea, whom was following Ashera, but both refused. Ena then entered the battlefield once more for the final battles.

After the battle ended, Ena returned to Goldoa and gave birth to the son of her deceased fiancee (the longer lives of the dragons must mean longer periods of pregnancy, meaning that her baby might have taken developed in the decades since before Rajaion's capture). This was the first dragon birth in centuries.
