Debut Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance

Nasir is a playable unit in Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance (but only if certain conditions are met) as well as in the sequel, Radiant Dawn.

Background[edit]

Nasir was a dragon laguz from Goldoa. However, he sought to promote a peaceful coexistence between beorcs and laguz. He also did not approve of Dheginsea isolating the dragon laguz from the rest of Tellius. For these reasons, he ventured out to live among beorcs in Crimea and Begnion. Nasir disguised several of his features to resemble a normal beorc, and he changed his very attire and eating habits to fit in seamlessly among the beorcs. He worked as a merchant and had his own vessel.

Path of Radiance[edit]

In Path of Radiance, Nasir was first seen in a house in Port Toha in "Chapter 3: Pirates Aground". He claimed to be visiting to see the world famous fish market and entrusted the visitor with an Elixir to help them fight off the pirates. Around that time, his granddaughter Ena (her parents having died some time ago) came to Nasir seeking help as her fiancee Rajaion had been warped into a mindless beast and the steed of Ashnard, the cruel king of Daein. Ena had joined up with Daein, and Nasir agreed to help her.

After war broke out between Crimea and Daein, Ranulf (he and Nasir seeming to be friends) approached Nasir with a proposition. Nasir would allow Elincia and the Greil Mercenaries transportation to Begnion aboard his ship. Additionally he was to act as a spy for Gallia and report his opinions about the group to Gallia's council of elders, as only the word of a Goldoan could convince the elders to lend Gallian aid to the Princess Elincia. But unbenownst to Ranulf, he was also spying on the group for Daein in order to help Ena. Elincia and the mercenaries made their way to Nasir's ship at Port Toha in "Chapter 11: Blood Runs Red" after fighting their way through a Daein blockade. He soon spoke to Ike the leader of the mercenaries, and admired his innocence and honesty, but also warned him that his conviction would be tested throughout his journey and hoped that Ike would not be lost to despair.

As Ike continued on his journey, Nasir provided his own insights or advice without revealing either of the sides he was spying on them for. He also hid himself from his fellow dragons when they passed by Goldoa in "Chapter 12: Strange Lands", in order to protect his identity as a member of the Dragon Tribe and possibly due to being considered an outcast from his people. Nasir continued to support Ike and the others even after they arrived in Begnion, and he helped to teach Ike about the story behind the Serenes Massacre in "Chapter 16: Atonement". He sold his ship and dismissed his crew to accompany Ike after Ike became commander of the Crimean army, claiming it was because he saw that there was value in accompanying Ike. However, his true reasons were so that he could report all of the Crimean movements to both Gallia and Daein as the Crimean Liberation Army began its campaign against Daein in "Chapter 18: Crimea Marches". However, Soren was suspicious of Nasir's motives and privately encountered him with his suspicions, but Nasir denied his claims and also threatened to reveal Soren's secrets (likely pertaining to him being one of The Branded).

At one point he found that Mist possessed Lehran's Medallion, which was heavily desired by Ashnard. So he stole it from Mist while she was sleeping in "Chapter 20: Defending Talrega" and delivered it to Ena at the Daein Keep. However, he also learned that Ena had been placed in charge of Daein's capital so she would be leading the battle with the Crimean Liberation Army. Nasir attempted to convince her otherwise, but Ena told him to free himself from helping her and said she was willing to slaughter all the Crimeans to return to Rajaion. Ike's group successfully defeated Ena in "Chapter 21: Without a King", but after the battle Nasir attacked Ike in order to allow Ena to escape. It was then that Ike realized Nasir must have been the Daein traitor all along and had him imprisoned in the army's camp until he was willing to disclose his motives. All he did was direct them to Palmeni Temple, where they learned the secrets of Lehran's Medallion. However, after they entered Crimea, Nasir picked up a signal from Ena (due to the telepathic abilities of the Dragon Tribe) and escaped from his confinement to search for her.

Nasir eventually arrived at Nados Castle, where Ena was held, in "Chapter 27: Moment of Fate". He arrived just as Ike had defeated the Black Knight, and he helped them to escape the crumbling castle. Afterwards, Ike was willing to trust Nasir again, but Nasir still refused to tell Ike why he was helping Daein beyond telling him Ena was his granddaughter. Nasir and Ena then redeemed themselves by directing the Crimean Liberation Army to the tower where Leanne was imprisoned in "Chapter 28: Twisted Tower". At that point Nasir began fighting alongside the army as well and revealed his dragon form. Nasir later apologized to Mist for stealing the medallion in a Base Conversation of "Endgame: Repatriation", but she gladly forgave him.

After Ike defeated Ashnard in the final battle, Nasir witnessed Ena's last moments with Rajaion prior to his death and revealed the full story behind his former alliance with Daein. Nasir decided to return to Goldoa with Ena in order to bury Rajaion. Ike admitted that he always trusted Nasir and never thought of him as an enemy even after Nasir betrayed him. It was then that Nasir realized that Ike continued to defy his prediction by remaining honest even with all the hardships he had encountered. He urged Ike to stay the same and not to change for anyone, and he also promised that he would see Ike again.

Alternate Plotlines[edit]

In "Chapter 28: Twisted Tower", if Ike did not defeat the Black Knight, Nasir will arrive and hold him off while Ike, Mist and Ena escape. Nasir sacrifices himself in doing so, as the tower collapses atop him and the Black Knight. He is presumed dead afterwards, so the path where Nasir survives seems to be canon due to Nasir being alive in Radiant Dawn. However, in the epilogue of this path Ike suspects that Nasir might still be alive, especially since his body was not found.

Radiant Dawn[edit]

Nasir then returned to Goldoa. After what happened to Rajaion, he decided he would not abandon or betray the king again. He and Ena were first seen in "Chapter 8: Incandescent Glow" of "Part 3: Intersecting Vows". He convinced Dheginsea to spare Ike and the Laguz Alliance Army by reminding him of what they had done to help Rajaion and also convinced the Dragon King to let him and Ena escort the army to Crimea's borders.

After Ashera was awakened, Nasir and Gareth joined with Dheginsea in serving Ashera as her protectors in the Tower of Guidance. Prior to Ike's armies' siege on the tower in "Final Chapter: Rebirth", Nasir came to visit Ike's camp in the preceding Base Conversation and spoke with Kurthnaga, Almedha and Ena. He warned them about the consequences of their actions due to Kurthnaga joining in on the war and Almedha having her affair with Ashnard. He specifically had been sent to bring Kurthnaga over to Dheginsea. However, both Kurthnaga and Ena refused to follow Ashera, so Nasir reluctantly departed.

Ike and his men clashed with the dragons in the third part of the final chapter, and Dheginsea was killed in the battle. If they were still alive after the battle, Nasir and Gareth then joined up with Ike's ranks. In the second playthrough, they then told Kurthnaga and Micaiah various secrets about Lehran and Goldoa's history, due to Kurthnaga being the new hair of Goldoa (and possibly because they knew Micaiah was descended from Lehran).

After the the big battle ended, Nasir continued his travels, but he also served the new king Kurthnaga by observing other nations in his travels. Nasir also often doted on his great grandchild, recently born to Ena.
