Weezing is a poisonous Pokémon that was introduced in the first generation games. It is the evolved form of Koffing and is actually two Koffing fused together.

Information[edit]

Weezing evolves from Koffing at Level 30. It has been described as a sudden mutation occurring when two poison gases meet, fusing two Koffing together. Although it is usually two-headed, there are rare cases where three-headed Weezing have been reported. It lives and grows by absorbing dirt, dust and poison gases from toxic wastes and garbage. One head inflates while the other hair deflates as it takes in poison gases, which mixes the poison gases and makes them more putrid.

To a Weezing, gases emanating from garbage are the highest feast. They have been known to make dirty, unkempt houses into their home and to feed on the fumes of kitchen garbage at night. Surprisingly, diluting its internal gases to the highest level can cause it to be made into top-grade perfume. Like their earlier form, these poisonous Pokémon are often used by criminals such as Team Rocket.

Appearances[edit]

Mainstream Games[edit]

In Pokémon: Red, Blue and FireRed, Weezing can be found in the Pokémon Mansion, being uncommon in Red and less common in Blue/FireRed. In Crystal, it has a rare chance of appearing at Burned Tower. In HeartGold and SoulSilver, Weezing can only be found at the Safari Zone's Marshland area.

In Diamond, Pearl and Platinum, they are uncommonly found at Route 227 and Stark Mountain (both outside and inside).

Other Games[edit]

Weezing can only be obtained by evolving a Koffing in Pokémon Pinball, Pokémon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Teams. In Pokémon Channel, they appeared outside the Ruins of Truth on snowy days and clear or cloudy evenings. In Pokémon Trozei!, it could be found at Secret Storage 19 and Mr. Who's Den. In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Darkness, Weezing could be recruited at Concealed Ruins and World Abyss.

In Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia, Weezing could be found at Almia Castle. It appeared in Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs at Faldera Island and Ice Temple. Weezing also appeared in Pokémon Rumble at Eternal Tower.

Other Appearances[edit]

Video Games[edit]

  • Within the Super Smash Bros. series, Weezing was featured in Super Smash Bros. Melee as one of the Pokémon that could be summoned at random from the Poké Ball item. It produced a smog of poison gas that harmed anyone nearby. A float of Weezing was also among the floats in the Poké Floats stage. Weezing has also been represented by a trophy in Melee and Novice-rank Support Spirit (which raised the power of fire and explosion attacks) in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. When fought against in a Spirit battle, it would possess Wario in a stage filled with poison gas.

Other Media[edit]

  • In the Pokémon anime, Weezing was featured as the main Pokémon of James. It evolved from his Koffing partway through the Kanto series at the same time that Jessie's Ekans evolved into Arbok, and they both evolved out of a desire to be more useful to their trainers. Weezing continued to be James's primary Pokémon until an early episode of the Hoenn series when Weezing and Arbok wound up staying behind to protect a colony of Koffing and Ekans from poachers. During the Indigo League series, one episode also had Ash temporarily using a Weezing as part of a Pokémon League entrance exam, and he actually used it to defeat Team Rocket.
  • In the Pokémon Adventures manga, Weezing have been shown belonging to Koga and Janine as well as various members of Team Rocket.

Trivia[edit]

  • Its name is a play on "wheezing".
