Porygon-Z is a glitchy digital Pokémon that was introduced in the fourth generation games. It acts as the new evolved form of for the second generation Pokémon Porygon2, which retroactively makes it the third and last stage in Porygon's evolutionary line.

Information[edit]

Porygon-Z evolves from Porygon2 when traded while holding the Dubious Disc. Apparently, additional software had been installed to make it a better Pokémon and capable of exploring alien dimensions, but it began acting oddly. It has a glitchy nature, likely due to the suspect software (the Dubious Disc) used to evolve it.

Appearances[edit]

Mainstream Games[edit]

It has not been found in the wild and can only be obtained through evolution from the fourth generation games onward.

Other Games[edit]

In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness and Time, Porygon-Z could only be obtained through evolution. In Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia, it appears in the Oil Field Hideout. In Pokémon Rumble, it is found at Eternal Tower. In Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs', it could be found at the Sky Fortress and Thunder Temple. Porygon-Z also appeared in PokéPark Wii: Pikachu's Adventure at the Granite Zone.

Other Appearances[edit]

Other Media[edit]

  • In the Pokémon Adventures manga, Porygon-Z was featured in a chapter of the Platinum arc, where it belonged to a trainer who battled Platina at the Battle Tower, but it was defeated with ease.

Trivia[edit]

  • Its name is an extension of the previous forms' names. The "Z" could refer to the Z axis from geometry or reflect that it is the latest model of Porygon.
  • Porygon-Z and its pre-evolved form, Porygon2, are the only two Pokémon not to appear in the Pokémon anime, likely due to the stigma from the seizures caused in Japan by the first season episode featuring Porygon.
