Flareon is one of the original three of Eevee's seven alternate evolved forms introduced in the first generation Pokémon games. Flareon is the Fire-type evolution which is reached by giving Eevee a Fire Stone.

Information[edit]

Flareon has a flame chamber that stores thermal heat in its body which can reach over 1,600 degrees. When it inhales, it can blow out fire that is over 3,000 degrees after heating the air in its internal flame pouch. Flareon's fluffy fur serves the functional purpose of releasing heat into the air so that its body does not get excessively hot, and it can fluff out its fur collar specifically to cool its body temperature.

Appearances[edit]

Mainstream Games[edit]

In all of the color versions, it can only be obtained through evolution.

Other Games[edit]

Flareon can only be obtained through evolution in Pokémon Pinball and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Teams. In Pokémon Trozei!, it could be found at Secret Storage 17 and Mr. Who's Den. In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Darkness, Flareon appeared at the first nineteen floors of Giant Volcano, the first fifteen basement floors of Dark Crater and the first fourteen basement floors of Dark Crater Pit.

It could also be found in the Fiore Temple in Pokémon Ranger as well as the Volcano Cave in Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia. In Pokémon Rumble, Flareon could be found at Fiery Furnace. Flareon also appeared in Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs at Faldera Island and Fire Temple. In PokéPark Wii: Pikachu's Adventure, it appeared at the Lava Zone.

Other Appearances[edit]

  • Flareon have made various appearances throughout the Pokémon anime series, such as in the ownership of the Kanto season's Eevee brothers or the Johto season's Kimono Girls, all of whom specialized in Eevee's evolved forms. It was also one of the featured Pokémon of Pokémon Coordinator Savannah in the Hoenn episodes.
  • In the Pokémon Adventures manga, a Team Rocket microchip caused Eevee to spontaneously evolve (and later de-volve) against its will into any of its original three evolutions, which included Flareon, although it was later able to control this ability. Eventually it lost its ability, and the original evolutions stopped appearing, when this Eevee underwent a permanent evolution into "Espeon".

Trivia[edit]

  • Its name is simply a combination of "flare" (in reference to fire) and "eon", which is a suffix associated with all of Eevee's evolved forms.
