Moblins are a race of brutish creatures, typically with heads resembling pigs or bulldogs.

Information

One of the most common creatures in the land of Hyrule. Moblins are large creatures (typically taller than Hylians). Their appearance tends to vary between two basic types of a Bulldog and a Pig. These two types of Moblins tend to not appear together except with a few exceptions. Moblins are typically minions of Ganon. They are proficient with primarily spears, but are known to use other weapons, such as bows.

NES Years

In "Legend of Zelda" and "The Adventure of Link", Moblins come in the bulldog variety. They are typically found outside of dungeons in forested areas. The orange ones are the weaker version, whereas the blue are stronger. Both kinds are able to throw an unlimited number of spears as a means of attack.

A Link to the Past

In "A Link to the Past", Moblins are pig creatures that appear only in the Dark World. The normal variety are armed with spears, but armored Moblins carry tridents and shields.

Gameboy Zelda

In "Link's Awakening" and both Oracles games, Moblins come as pigs and bulldogs. In the former, there is King Moblin (bulldog) who captures Bow Wow. In the latter games, the Great Moblin (pig) tries to stop Link a number of times.

Ocarina of Time

In "Ocarina of Time", the Moblins come in bulldog form. They are found only outside the Forest Temple while Link is an adult. One large Moblin is armed with a large club and is able to cause shockwaves in the ground.

Four Swords

In "Four Swords" and "The Minish Cap", Moblins come in the pig variety. In the former they often wield bows, whereas they only use spears in the latter.

The Wind Waker

In "The Wind Waker", Moblins are the muscle for Ganon's forces. They often carry lanterns and patrol the Forsaken Fortress and dark areas for intruders. They carry Skull Necklaces, which can be stolen. Their spears can also be used after they are defeated.

Trivia

  • In the "Legend of Zelda" manual, Moblin was typoed as "Molblin".
  • Moblin gets its name from 'Goblin', a popular creature of myth and fantasy.
  • Not all Moblins are bad. In "Legend of Zelda", some Moblins hide out in caves and give rupees to Link to keep it a secret. In "The Wind Waker", Maggie falls in love with Moe, a Moblin from Forsaken Fortress. They even write letters back to eachother.
