Snover is a frosty plant-like Pokémon that was introduced in the fourth generation games. Its evolved form is Abomasnow.

Information

Snover usually live on snowy mountains and are "boldly inquisitive" due to their limited contact with humans. Their curiosity about people causes them to gather around human footsteps that they find in the snow. Snover migrate the the lower reaches of their respective mountains during cold seasons and only return to the snow-covered summit during the spring. During spring, Snover grow berries with the texture of frozen fruits around their berries.

Snover evolves into Abomansnow at Level 40.

In Pokémon: Diamond, Pearl and Platinum Versions, Snover commonly appeared at Routes 216 and 217, Acuity Lakefront and the snowy exterior of Mt. Coronet. Snover could also be caught at the Icy Mountain Road course of the Pokéwalker, and it could be transferred from there to HeartGold/SoulSilver.

Other Games

In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Darkness, Snover could be recruited at the Crevice Cave and Lower Crevice Cave. In Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia, it appeared at Volcano Cave. In Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs, it appeared at Mt. Sorbet and the Ice Temple. A Snover could also be obtained in My Pokémon Ranch through a random trade with Hayley, and it could then be transferred to Diamond/Pearl (as well as Platinum in Japan). Snover also appeared in Pokémon Rumble at the Rocky Cave.

• In the Super Smash Bros. series, Snover would appear in the background of the Pokémon Stadium 2 level while it is in Ice mode in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and it reappeared with the stage in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. It also appeared as a trophy in Brawl.

Other Media

• In the Pokémon anime, Snover have made various appearances of various importance. One episode featured a lonely Snover that tried to befriend Ash's group, while one was featured as one of Candice's Pokémon in another episode.
• In the Pokémon Adventures manga, Snover was featured as one of Candice's Pokémon, but it was defeated by Platina's Empoleon with ease.

Trivia

• Its name seems to be a combination of "snow" with either "clover" (which would connect it to plants due to its Grass type and plant-like attributes) or "cover".
