Sigilyph is an ancient winged Pokémon that was introduced in the fifth generation games.

Information[edit]

Sigilyph are the guardians of an ancient city. They have psychic powers which they used to attack enemies that invade their territory. Sigilyph never vary the route which they fly along, because their memories of guarding the ancient city remain intact. The ancient city is implied to be the ancient civilization that was once present at the Desert Resort in Unova by the presence of Sigilyph in the area.

Appearances[edit]

Mainstream Games[edit]

In Pokémon: Black and White Versions, Sigilyph were uncommonly found at Desert Resort.

Other Games[edit]

In Pokémon Rumble Blast, Sigilyph were found at the desert area of Rugged Flats and would also appear in any tower area when Arceus was nearby. In PokéPark 2: Wonders Beyond, Sigilyph appeared as an inhabitant of the Wish Park whom had sought someone to tell the world's history and future to. It was the leader of the Flight Zone within this area and ran the Flight of Fancy attraction, which was the last attraction to be completed. Completing the attraction would merge Wish Park, at which point Sigilyph could be befriended through a battle.

Other Appearances[edit]

Other Media[edit]

  • In the Pokémon anime, Sigilyph was first shown in both versions of the fourteenth movie as one of Damon's Pokémon. It arranged the castle's pillars to trap Victini and also channeled Victini's power into the Solosis and Duosion that were powering the castle. A Sigilyph also appeared in an episode of the Unova series as one of the guards of the Black Hero's ruins.

Trivia[edit]

  • Its name is a combination of "sigil" and "glyph", which both words used for symbols commonly associated with ancient times as well as magic.
