Sandile is a small crocodile-like Pokémon that was introduced in the fifth generation games. It is the first in a three-step evolutionary line, with its evolved forms being Krokorok and Krookodile.

Information

They live buried within the sands of the desert. The warm sands keep their body temperature from dropping. Sandile move below the sand's surface, and usually only their nose and eyes stick out above ground. It has a dark membrane that shields its eyes from the sun.

Sandile evolves into Krokorok at Level 29.

In Pokémon: Black and White Versions, Sandile is commonly found at Route 4, Desert Resort and Relic Castle.

Other Games

In Pokémon Rumble Blast, it was found at the desert and field areas of the Rugged Flats. In PokéPark 2: Wonders Beyond, Sandile was found at the Cove Area and initially worked with Krokorok to lure others into Wish Park, having been manipulated by Gothita. They were both battled in Cove Town after their ruse was discovered and befriended afterwards. He was described as thinking of himself as a deceptive creature when he is actually quite obvious.

• In the Pokémon anime, a Sandile wearing sunglasses has made recurring appearances in the Unova series. It performs acts of good through mischief with a group of Sandile followers, although it has also followed Ash's group in hopes of getting a fight with Pikachu, often getting sent blasting off after failing. In its third appearance, it evolved into Krokorok during a battle with Pikachu. Other Sandile have made a variety of minor appearances.
• In the Pokémon Adventures manga, during the Black/White arc a Sandile was shown among the Pokémon in White's BW Agency with the ability to cry on command.

Trivia

• Its name is a combination of "sand" and "crocodile" as well as a pun on "sundial" (a type of time measuring device commonly used in the desert) or "sandal" (footwear worn in sandy areas).
