Patrat is a common rodent-like Pokémon that was introduced in the first generation Pokémon games. Its evolved form is Watchog.

Information[edit]

These small Pokémon resemble chipmunks and usually live in groups. They are an extremely cautious species to the point where they take shifts as lookout to maintain a constant watch over their nest. They feel insecure without a lookout. One Patrat is able to keep watch for days due to its ability to store food in its cheeks. They use their tails to communicate with others.

It evolves into Watchog at Level 20.

Appearances[edit]

Mainstream Games[edit]

In Pokémon: Black and White Versions, Patrat are commonly found on Routes 1, 2 and 3 as well as in the Dreamyard.

Other Games[edit]

In Pokémon Rumble Blast, Patrat are found at the meadow and field areas of Trailhead Field and at the meadow of Challenger's Ground. In PokéPark 2: Wonders Beyond, it appeared at Seasong Beach in the Cove Area and was befriended by giving it a ball.

Other Appearances[edit]

Other Media[edit]

  • Since the Pokémon anime began its Black and White-based series, Patrat have begun to make various, primarily minor appearances, as wandering packs and as Pokémon belonging to several trainers.
  • In the Pokémon Adventures manga, a Patrat was shown as part of Lenora's team during her gym battle with Black during the Black/White arc. Patrat was able to use its eyesight (possibly referring to the Keen Eye ability despite a different effect) to see Black's other Pokémon (a Braviary) within its Pokémon so that Lenora could follow her strategy of having Stoutland use Roar so that it could attack the other Pokémon. Black countered by having Braviary use Whirlwind to force Patrat out and defeat it with ease.

Trivia[edit]

  • Its name is a combination of "patrol" and "rat" which may also be intended as a play on "packrat".
