Mr. Mime is a humanoid Pokémon introduced in the first generation. It originally had no evolutionary line until it was discovered to potentially evolve from a baby form Mime Jr. in the fourth generation.

Information[edit]

Mr. Mime is a strange humanoid Pokémon that acts as a mime. It will often partake in acts of pantomime, and if interrupted it will take offense and slap the offender repeatedly. It can often trick enemies into thinking that things exist which aren't really there, although as a Mr. Mime matures it will gain the ability to create invisible walls, making its pantomiming real. These walls are created by a particular force field exuded by its fingers which will harden the air to creating an actual wall.

It evolves from a Mime Jr. when it levels up after learning Mimic (). Mime Jr. can be bred from a Mr. Mime only when Mr. Mime parent is holding Odd Incense during the breeding period.

Appearances[edit]

Mainstream Games[edit]

In Pokémon: Red, Green, Blue, Yellow, FireRed and LeafGreen, Mr. Mime can be obtained through a trade on Route 2. The player will have to trade an Abra for it in all versions save for Yellow, where the player must trade a Clefairy instead.

In Pokémon: Gold, Silver, Crystal, HeartGold and SoulSilver, wild Mr. Mime can be rarely found on Route 21. In Gold/Silver and HeartGold/SoulSilver, it can also be won at the Celadon City Game Corner for 3333 coins. They were also present in the Safari Zone's Forest area during the daytime in HeartGold/SoulSilver.

In Pokémon Diamond Mr. Mime can be found on Routes 218 and 223, while in Pokémon: Platinum Version it can only be found on Rout 218.

Other Games[edit]

In Pokémon Pinball, Mr. Mime could be caught in the Rock Mountain area. Mr. Mime also appears in Pokémon Stadium, Pokémon Stadium 2 and Pokémon Colosseum. In Stadium 2, it is featured in the minigame Barrier Ball where one of four Mr. Mime can be controlled in maneuvering their barrier walls to bounce Poké balls around in a Pong-like manner. In Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness, a Shadow version of Mr. Mime could be snagged from Cipher Admin Gorigan on Citadark Isle and could be traded to the Gameboy Advance games after purification.

In Pokémon Channel, Mr. Mime appeared at the Bus Stop on clear mornings and at all times of the day with cloudy weather. In Pokémon Trozei! Mr. Mime can be obtained in Secret Storage 7, Trozei Battle! and Mr. Who's Den. Mr. Mime is found in the Dusk Factory in Pokémon Ranger and the Offshore Oil Platform Hideout in Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia. In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Teams Mr. Mime could be found in the fiftieth through sixty-ninth floors of Buried Relic and the seventh through twelfth floors of Solar Cave. Then in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Darkness, it could be found in the first nine floors of Mt. Travail and the first seventeen basement floors of Lost Wilderness.

Mr. Mime also appeared in Pokémon Rumble at Eternal Tower. In PokéPark Wii: Pikachu's Adventures, it appeared at the Cavern Zone and hosted the Mine Cart.

Other Appearances[edit]

  • Mr. Mime was featured in an episode of the Pokémon anime where Ash Ketchum temporarily disguised himself as a Mr. Mime to inspire an out-of-work Mr. Mime at a circus in Pallet Town. At the same time a wild Mr. Mime came to Ash's home, and his mom began to take care of it believing it was Ash. That Mr. Mime wound up staying at the house in future episodes and acted as a maid for Ash's mother, being known as Mimey.
  • A Mr. Mime also appeared in the Pokémon Adventures manga under Sabrina's ownership, where it originally covered all of Saffron City in a Light Screen to keep it under Team Rocket's control until it was beaten by Red's Pikachu. It later was able to beat Bugsy's Heracross in the Crystal arc. Crystal also obtained her own Mr. Mime by the Emerald arc and similarly used it for special barriers.

Trivia[edit]

  • Despite gender suggestive title of "Mister" (which is only in its English name), female Mr. Mime also exist. This discrepancy was due to Mr. Mime having been named before the series had an actual gender system.
