Medicham is a psychic yoga-practicing simian Pokémon that was introduced in the third generation games. It is the evolved form of Meditite.

Information[edit]

It evolves from Meditite at Level 37. Medicham undergoes constant yoga training, which heightens its senses and unlocks its sixth sense. This allows it to foretell its opponent's actions, and Medicham also develops psychokinetic powers. It hides its presence by merging itself with fields and mountains. Medicham battle with elegant, dance-like movements, and they can dodge moves and launch devastating blows with one motion. Medicham are known to meditate for a month without food, and their starvation allows them to see their opponents' aura. A Medicham can even read other's minds.

Appearances[edit]

Mainstream Games[edit]

In Pokémon: Ruby and Sapphire Versions, Medicham was found uncommonly at Victory Road. In Diamond and Pearl, they appeared at Route 217, Mt. Coronet, Acuity Lakefront and Victory Road, while in Platinum it only could be found at Victory Road. In HeartGold and SoulSilver, it could appear at the Safari Zone's Wasteland area when enough Forest objects were present.

Other Games[edit]

Medicham could only be obtained through evolution in Pokémon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire and in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Teams. In Pokémon Trozei!, it was found at at Endless Level 16, Endless Level 35, Forever Level 65 and Mr. Who's Den. In Red and Blue Rescue Teams, a non-playable Medicham also appeared as part of Team Meanies and at one point had to be saved from Wish Cave. In Pokémon Ranger, it was found at Panula Cave and Fiore Temple. In Explorers of Time and Darkness, it could be recruited at Lost Wilderness, and a non-playable Medicham who was an old friend of Wigglytuff was shown as part of Team Charm, and the same Medicham was a supporting character in a Team Charm-based episode of Explorers of Sky.

Other Appearances[edit]

Other Media[edit]

  • In the Pokémon anime, Medicham was featured in two episodes of the Hoenn series as the main Pokémon of the Coordinator named Grace. Greta and Candice each used a Medicham during their battles against Ash in the Battle Frontier and Sinnoh series, respectively. The Medicham from Team Meanies also appeared in the Mystery Dungeon special.
  • In the Pokémon Adventures manga, a Medicham was initially shown as an opponent that Ruby faced in a Pokémon Contest during the Ruby/Sapphire arc. In the Platinum arc, Dahlia had a Medicham as one of her Pokémon, but the Battle Arcade caused her and Platina's Pokémon to switch for their battle.

Trivia[edit]

  • Its name seems to be a combination of "meditate" and "champion".
