Lairon is a large steel-bodied Pokémon that was introduced in the third generation games. It is the middle form of Aron's evolutionary line and evolves into Aggron.

Information

Lairon evolves from Aron at Level 32 and gains a new metallic coat in the process. It tempers its steel body by drinking highly nutritious spring water until it is bloated, and it also digs up iron ore for food. They make their nests on mountains where ore is buried and near springs of fresh water. This usually leads to Lairon clashing with human miners. When two Lairon meet in the wild, they fight for territory by smashing into each other with their steel bodies, with the collisions making sounds that echo for miles. Lairon regularly shows off its strength through the size of the sparks it creates when ramming its steel body into boulders.

It evolves into Aggron at Level 42.

Mainstream Games

In Pokémon: Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald Versions, it was uncommonly found at Victory Road. In HeartGold and SoulSilver, it could appear at the Safari Zone's Peak area if enough Rock objects were present.

Other Games

In Pokémon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire, it could only be obtained through evolution. In Pokémon Trozei!, it appeared at Endless Level 28, Endless Level 34, Forever Level 77 and Mr. Who's Den. In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Teams, it could be recruited at the seventh through ninth floors of Frosty Forest, the sixty-second through sixty-fourth floors of Wish Cave and Joyous Tower and the thirteenth through fifteenth basement floors of Oddity Cave. In Explorers of Time and Darkness, it was recruitable at the ninth through fifteenth floors of Northern Desert. In Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia, it was found at Volcano Cave. In Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs, it appeared at Wireless Tower and the Fire Temple.

• In the Pokémon anime, Lairon made various mostly minor appearances, sometimes belonging to other trainers and in the eleventh movie helping Ash's group. Paul also used a Lairon during his battle with Brandon in the Sinnoh series, and it likely evolved into the Aggron that he used at the Lily of the Valley Conference.
• In the Pokémon Adventures series, Sapphire's Aron evolved into a Lairon while fighting Brawly's Makuhita in a chapter of the Ruby/Sapphire arc. It acted as a regular member of her team and evolved into Aggron while training at Mirage Island.
