Karrablast is a small bug Pokémon that was introduced in the fifth generation games. Its evolved form is Escavalier.

Information[edit]

Karrablast resembles a horned bug and, when threatened, it spits an acidic liquid to drive attackers away. Karrablast is known for targeting Shelmet due to the mysterious connection between them. Karrablast and Shelmet both mysteriously evolve only when they receive electric stimulation at the same time. This is represented ingame by trading a Karrablast and a Shelmet (the electric stimulation presumably being part of the trade), which causes each of them to evolve into Escavalier and Accelgor, respectively.

Appearances[edit]

Mainstream Games[edit]

In Pokémon: Black and White Versions, Karrablast could be found uncommonly at Route 6 and rarely at Route 11.

Other Games[edit]

In Pokémon Rumble Blast, Karrablast was found at the treetops areas of Soothing Shore and World Axle's second basement floor. In Pokémon Rumble Blast, one appeared in the Arbor Area by the entrance at Windmill Way. This Karrablast dreamed of becoming a knight to protect the area and was befriended after being given a Rainbow Pearl.

Other Appearances[edit]

Other Media[edit]

  • In the Pokémon anime, during the Unova series Bianca sought a Karrablast to trade her Shelmet for in order to trigger evolution. In the next episode, Professor Juniper was shown to have one, and after she showed off its abilities, she went through with the trade with Bianca, triggering its evolution into Escavalier.

Trivia[edit]

  • Its name is a combination of "kerato" (which is Greek for "horn") with plastron (a word for a shelled creature's underside).
