The Harp of Ages is a magical instrument that was featured in The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages.

The Harp of Ages was a mysterious harp which had power over time. It belonged to Nayru, but she did not use it, likely as her own powers made it redundant. She instead hid it within her house in case of an emergency. Link found it in her house after Naryu was possessed by Veran in Oracle of Ages. Nayru had left an apparition of herself attached to the harp, which told him that he must be a hero chosen by the currents of time. This message also taught Link the first of the harp's tunes, the Tune of Echoes. This original tune only opened up pre-existing time portals.
In the past, the researcher Tokkey used the Tune of Echoes to create a new tune, the Tune of Currents, which could bring Link back to the present whenever he was in the past. The final tune, the Tune of Ages, was taught to Link by Nayru after she was rescued. This unlocked the true power of the harp, which allowed him to travel freely between the past and present. The ending showed that the harp was returned to Nayru, and she played it to entertain others.
Trivia[edit]
- There are several areas (Yoll Graveyard, the Sea of No Return and the Black Tower) in which the Harp of Ages cannot work, in order to prevent sequence breaking.
- The Harp also has no effect in dungeons, but its tune can harm Pols Voices.
- The symbols for the three tunes were later used as symbols for the three Golden Goddesses in The Wind Waker and have also shown up in other contexts.
