Graveler is a rocky Pokémon introduced in the first generation games. It is the middle stage of Geodude's evolutionary line and evolves into Golem.

Information

A Geodude evolves into Golem at Level 25. It is a much larger Pokémon which has an extra pair of arms as well as legs, but it is a slow walker. Instead they move by rolling down slopes and over any obstacle without losing speed or changing direction. Because of its free and uncaring nature, it does not care about pieces breaking off as it rolls down mountains. A Graveler rolling at full momentum cannot be stopped by most Pokémon. If it builds up too much speed, it stops by slamming into large rocks.

They grow by eating rocks, often going through a ton of them on a daily basis, and they apparently prefer moss-covered rocks. Graveler have been known to crunch on rocks as they scale a mountain from the base to the summit, and then they roll back down the mountain. They make their homes on cliff faces by gouging out many horizontal holes. Graveler evolves into Golem only after being traded to another trainer.

In Pokémon: Red, Blue and Yellow, Graveler could be found at Victory Road, and in Yellow it also appeared at Cerulean Cave. In FireRed and LeafGreen, Graveler could be found by smashing rocks at Rock Tunnel, Cerulean Cave, Kindle Road, Mt. Ember and Sevault Canyon.

In Gold, Silver and Crystal, Graveler could be found at Route 45, Dark Cave (by the Blackthorn entrance), Mt. Mortar, Victory Road and Mt. Silver Cave's first floor. In HeartGold and SoulSilver, it was found at all these areas plus Route 47 and Safari Zone's Peak area, and at Cerulean Cave with Rock Smash. In Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald, Graveler could be found at Victory Road, and in Emerald it also appeared at Magma Hideout.

In Diamond, Pearl and Platinum, Graveler was found at Routes 211, 214, 216 and 227, Mt. Coronet, Iron Island, Valor Lakefront, Victory Road, Snowpoint Temple (Diamond/Pearl only) and Stark Mountain. In Platinum Graveler also appeared at Routes 225 and 226 as well as Sendoff Spring. In Pokémon: Black and White Versions, Graveler could be found somewhat commonly at Challenger's Cave.

Other Games

In Pokémon Pinball as well as Pokémon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire, Graveler could only be obtained through evolution. Graveler could be photographed at the Valley in Pokémon Snap. In Pokémon Trozei!, Graveler appeared at Secret Storage 8 and Mr. Who's Den. In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Teams, Graveler could be recruited at the fifth through tenth floors of Magma Cavern, the seventy-fourth through seventy-sixth floors of Buried Relic, the seventy-second through seventy-fifth floors of Wish Cave, the twenty-fifth through thirty-sixth floors of Southern Cavern and the sixty-eighth through seventy-third floors of Joyous Tower. Two non-playable Graveler also appeared as part of Team Rumblerock.

In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Darkness, Graveler could be recruited on the first six basement floors of Crystal Cave. In Pokémon Ranger, it was found at Krokka Tunnel and Jungle Relic. In Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia, it appeared at Marine Cave, Peril Cliffs and Volcano Cave. In Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs, Graveler was found at Mt. Latolato, Fire Temple and Odd Temple. Graveler also appeared in Pokémon Rumble at Rocky Cave. In Pokémon Rumble Blast, it was found at the Desolated Ruins, Firebreathing Mountain and Sunny Seashore.

• In the Pokémon anime, Graveler was featured in one episode of the first season as one of Giselle's Pokémon which she used to defeat Misty's Starmie, in order to prove that Pokémon can beat other Pokémon in spite of type disadvantages. During the Johto series, one trained named Rory was shown to use a Graveler to dig for hot springs. Graveler and other members of its family were also shown as subjects of King Onix in a Hoenn era episode. Aside from that, Graveler have made various minor appearances throughout the series.
• In the Pokémon Adventures manga, a Graveler is one of the opponents Red defeats during his challenge of Peter City's gym, and Brock is also shown with one. During the Yellow arc, Brock gives a Graveler to Yellow, and it later evolves into a Golem during the showdown with Lance.

Trivia

• Its name is a simple play on "gravel", which relates to rocks.
