Gabite is a bipedal shark-like Pokémon that was introduced in the fourth generation games. It is the middle form of Gible's evolutionary line and evolves into Garchomp.

Information[edit]

Gabite evolves from Gible at Level 24. It has a love of sparkly things and habitually digs up gems in caves which it hoards in its nest. A Gabite's loot is constantly targeted by thieves. There is also a long-held belief that medicine made from Gabite's scales will heal even incurable diseases.

It evolves into Garchomp at Level 48.

Appearances[edit]

Mainstream Games[edit]

In most games, a Gabite could only be obtained by evolving a Gible. In Pokémon: Platinum Version, Gabite could be rarely found at Victory Road.

Other Games[edit]

In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Darkness, Gabite could be recruited at the Sky Stairway. In Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia, it was found at Hippowdon Temple and Altru Building. In Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs, it appeared at Oblivia Ruins, Sky Temple and the Dark Temple. Gabite also appeared in Pokémon Rumble at the Dark Cave.

Other Appearances[edit]

In Other Media[edit]

  • In the Pokémon anime, a Gabite was featured in the Explorers of Time and Darkness special where its scales were shown to indeed be cures for illnesses, and the Gabite had to be fought before relinquishing it. A Gabite was also featured as Ursula's main Pokémon during the Pokémon Contests of the Sinnoh series, along with other minor appearances.
  • In the Pokémon Adventures manga, a Gabite was shown belonging to a trainer at the Battle Arcade during the Platinum arc.

Trivia[edit]

  • Its name is a play on "bite", seemingly combined with "gabugabu" (which is used in Japanese to represent biting or chomping down).
