Ellen is a playable unit in Fire Emblem: Fuuin no Tsurugi. She is the first healing unit in the game.

Background[edit]

She is a member of the St. Elimine Church and a citizen of Bern. She was known for her compassion and dutifulness to the church. She was also a close servant and friend of Princess Guinivere of Bern. As a result she also was friends of Miledy and Zeiss, two Wyvern Riders that were loyal to Guinivere. When King Zephiel began to incite war in Elibe, Ellen was the only one to travel with Guinivere to meet with the Lycian Army to find a solution to peace.

However their efforts were disrupted when they were captured by Rude, a lord from a castle in Lycia. Ellen managed to escape, but was pursued. She was fortunate enough to run into Roy and his army. They did not yet know her identity, but they protected her from Rude's men. She aided them in battle with her healing stave. Afterwards they rescued Guinivere and discovered her identity as the princess of Bern. Guinivere traveled with Lycian Army along with Ellen, who remained part of Roy's entourage for the remainder of the war.

Following the war, she returned with Guinivere to rebuild Bern, which had been ravaged by war. Due to her hard work and kindheartedness, she was later called the "Saint of Bern".

Support Conversation Summaries[edit]

Ellen is capable of having support conversations with five other characters.

  • Chad- Chad finds Ellen and quickly asks her which of the two herbs he has can be used for wounds. Ellen answers and is surprised he knows that much, but Chad explains there's a wounded traveler in need of help. Ellen instead accompanies him since her stave would be more useful. Later Chad thanks her for the help and confesses his surprise that anyone would use an expensive healing stave on a commoner, which is why he knows about herbs. However when he learns she is from Bern, he quickly departs. In their final conversation, Chad explains that Bern soldiers killed the Father of their orphanage. Ellen says she can't replace the Father, but she can still be a friend he can talk to.
  • Miledy- Miledy talks to Ellen and finds she is being much more helpful than usual, but Ellen won't say why. In the next conversation, Ellen explains it is because she feels guilty that she did not tell Miledy that she and Guinivere were traveling to Lycia. Miledy says she did no wrong since she was only following Guinivere's orders. In their final conversation, Ellen again apologizes for burdening Miledy with her problems, but Miledy dismisses it as trivial matters and the two vow to continue to help Guinivere in the future.
  • Zeiss- Zeiss spots Ellen in the army and she explains she will always be at Guinivere's side. She asks if Zeiss joined because of Miledy, but he says he joined to see the heart Guinivere has for Bern. In another conversation Ellen flees to Zeiss after seeing a menacing man. Zeiss points out the man was in the army and notes that she is still scared of men. in their final conversation, Zeiss brings Ellen flowers from a mountaintop, surprising Ellen with his kindness. When she asks why, he explains that they both come from the same town and that he wants to always be at her side to protect her.
  • Lou- Their first conversations follows after Lou performing a favor for Ellen in fetching some medicine. She asks if he is an assistant of Merlinus, but to her surprise he explains he is actually fighting as well. In the next conversation, Ellen asks if Lou is doing alright due to the danger of being so small, but he says it is just as dangerous for her to be in battle. He then says he will protect her in battle. In their last conversation, Lou explains he thought he saw an enemy nearby and Ellen thanks him for looking out for her. Lou says it's nice to see her smile, since she rarely ever does so.
  • Saul- Saul is surprised to see Ellen, a fellow member of the church and one so fine looking. He attempts to set up a time with her to speak of "the love of God", but he cancels the appointment when she seems to be repelling his advances. Saul later tries to advance on her again by asking her to ease up and setting up a new session. Ellen misunderstands his intentions as being a sermon and invites Roy, Merlinus, Guinivere, and others to attend. Saul does not show up. Later Ellen confronts him, but to his surprise she describes him as being very noble. She believes he walks his 'woman-chasing' life not as impiety, but to show the freedom of the Elimine Church.
