Elice is Marth's sister and the princess of Altea who appears as a playable unit in Fire Emblem: Ankoku Ryuu to Hikari no Tsurugi, Monshou no Nazo and Shadow Dragon.
Background[edit]
Elice was skilled with magic, and specialized in healing staves but seemed very knowledgeable overall about magic. She cared deeply for her brother Marth. Elice was also close to her childhood friend Merric, who secretly had feelings for her, although it is uncertain if these feelings were requited.
Book One[edit]
When Altea was invaded, Marth and Elice were separated from their mother Liza. She knew that Marth was important to the future of the entire continent as only he could wield Falchion, so she sent him ahead of her with Malledus to look after him while she stayed behind to take care of the people in their parents' absence. Liza was eventually killed by a corrupt general, while Elice was captured by Gharnef and locked away in the Tower of Thebes. He kept her alive because he wanted her to use Aum, the staff of resurrection, for an unknown purpose as only women of pure blood could wield it.
Elice was rescued by Marth in Chapter 23 (18 SNES), and she was impressed in how he had grown in the years that had passed since Altea was taken. She then aided Marth in the final battles of the War of Darkness, and upon its conclusion they returned to Altea together. She then stood by Marth and watched as he grew into a fine leader.
Book Two[edit]
Three years later, Altea was invaded by Hardin's forces. Elice once more stayed behind in Altea Castle, this time in order to allow Caeda to escape and warn Marth. However, she was whisked away by one of Gharnef's priests along with fellow royal-blooded maidens Lena, Maria and Nyna. They were to be offered as sacrifices to awaken Medeus as a shadow dragon. When Marth and his army arrived in the final chapter, Elice and the other maidens were under Gharnef's hypnotic control and blocking the path to Medeus, and he would drain their life force to replenish his own. However, the spell could be broken before Medeus was destroyed if Merric spoke to Elice., and she then pleaded with him to save her.
After the war, she founded a magic academy at Pales, with Merric becoming a teacher there. She later married - most likely to Merric- as his being able to free her from Gharnef's control suggests a romantic connection - and lived the rest of her days in happiness.
Other Appearances[edit]
- She briefly appears in the beginning of the Fire Emblem OVA, where she is shown using a Warp spell to force Marth and Jagan out of Altea Castle.
Trivia[edit]
- She also has a special conversation with Merric in Shadow Dragon, where they remark on their childhood times and Elice assures Merric that he has grown stronger and no longer needs to prove himself.
- In Shadow Dragon, she receives Support Bonuses from Marth, Merric and Gotoh.
