The Clawshot is a grappling item that was originally featured in Twilight Princess. They often come in pairs.

Information[edit]

The Clawshot is a type of claw that is worn on one's hand and attached to a long chain. The chain is extended to grapple onto distant spots. Link can pull himself to these spots and will cling to walls while a claw is embedded in one. When grappling onto a ceiling, the user can extend and retract the chain to move up and down. Once Link has a full pair of Clawshots, one for each hand, he can grapple twice successfully to different surfaces.

Appearances[edit]

In Twilight Princess, the first Clawshot was found at the Lakebed Temple, while the second one was located at the City in the Sky. In Skyward Sword, a pair of Clawshots were the sacred item that Link earned by completing the Trial of Wisdom in Nayru's Silent Realm at the Lanayru Desert. In this game, the Clawshots are purely used for grappling onto different surfaces (and destroying small enemies), and they cannot grab distant items or grapple onto ceilings.

Other Appearances[edit]

Video Games[edit]

  • In Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U, Link used the Clawshot as his grapple move, to grab others or to grab onto ledges. It replaces the hookshot, which fulfilled that function in the earlier games.
  • The Clawshot appears in Hyrule Warriors, where it is a temporary upgrade to the hookshot. It also appears as an Item Card in Adventure Mode, where it can be used on certain squares of the map bearing targets to unlock more areas.
