Star Tropics is an NES game. It was released in America and Europe, but was never released in Japan.

Story

Mike Jones, a teenager from Seattle, receives a letter from his uncle. His uncle, Dr. Steve Jones, has invited Mike to visit him on C-Island. While visiting Coralcola Island, Mike finds that his uncle has been kidnapped. The chief gives Mike a yo-yo and Mike sets off to find his uncle.

Description

StarTropics is an adventure game, using a similar perspective as The Legend of Zelda. However, unlike The Legend of Zelda, StarTropics is linear and has a constant storyline. The game is divided into the overhead area, where the player travels to different areas, and dungeons full of enemies.

To battle the monsters, the player has one inexhaustible weapon and can pick up new secondary weapons. The player's health is measured by a heart meter that increases as the player continues.

One interesting feature of the game is a letter that comes with it. At one point during the game, the player is told to dip the letter in water. The letter revealed "747"; an important clue needed to advance in the game. This lead to much confusion among people who bought the game used.

Legacy

Sequels
