Skull Kid (often referred to as an imp) was a friend with the Four Giants who created the Four Worlds (those being the areas around Clock Town). When the four decided to become guardian spirits of those areas, Skull Kid felt abandoned and spiteful for what they did.

Background

Sometime later, after being abandoned, he met Tatle and Tael. He was outside Clock Town, huddled under a hollow log shivering. The two fairies, looking for a dry place to hide under, found him and the three kept warm together. Afterwards they hung aorund eachother as close friends. Except one day Skull Kid crossed the Happy Mask Salesman and stole a mask. A powerful mask: Majora's Mask.

Skull Kid was a member of the Bombers Gang for awhile. But after performing some mischevious deeds and especially after getting the mask, Jim and the other voted him out of the group and replaced him with Link. It is possible that the friends who left Skull Kid (before he met Tatl and Tael) were the Bombers and not the giants.

After getting Majora's Mask, Skull Kid committed a lot of devious acts (aside from just the moon). He attacked and injured the witch, Koume. He turned Kafei into a child. He split the Great Fairies into tiny little versions of theirself. But by far his biggest one was summoning the moon to crush the planet. This was right around when he ran into Link.

Skull Kid was hanging outside the portal to Termina in Hyrule. He found Link silently trudging through the forest and ambushed him. While Link was knocked out he stole the Ocarina of Time. When Link woke up, Skull Kid rode off with Epona (and made her vanish). When Link caught up with him, Skull Kid turned Link into a Deku Scrub and escaped, leaving Tatl behind.

Skull Kid met Link on top of the Clock Tower right before the Moon crashed, taunting him about how ineffective he was. Link was able to get his Ocarina of Time back and effectively perform the same three days over and over... At least until he was ready to take on Skull Kid. This time the Four Giant arrived and stopped the Moon from falling. Tael tried to defend Skull Kid from Tatl's aggressive lecturing. At this point Majora's Mask started talking saying that he no longer needed the 'puppet' and tossed Skull Kid aside.

After Link managed to defeat Majora, the giants, two fairies, and Link met with Skull Kid. He expressed that he was shocked that the giants hadn't abandoned him and they still considered him a friend. He realized having friends was a good thing and asked Link to be his friend. Especially since he reminded him of the 'fairy kid' that he learned a certain song from.

Trivia

• It's implied Skull Kid is the one Link taught Saria's Song to in Ocarina of Time. He may also be the Skull Kid that causes trouble for Link in Twilight Princess.
