Octopus is a Game & Watch game. It's part of the "Widescreen" series.

Information

The player controls a diver gathering sunken treasure. However, there's a octopus guarding the treasure. A wrong move can mean the player getting grabbed by an octopus. Game A and B are the same, except that the octopus' tentacles move faster in Game B. The player is given three lives.

Legacy

One of Mr. Game & Watch's moves are based on Octopus. In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, his Final Smash summons Octopus into battle.

Ports and Remakes

  • Octopus was one of the games included in Game & Watch Gallery with both the original Classic Version and a new Modern Version. In the Modern version, the player controls Mario in collecting treasure for Peach. The octopus's movements are more detailed, and Mario moves slower while holding treasure and can also toss the treasure at a tentacle to ward the octopus off.
  • Game & Watch Gallery 4 featured Octopus as one of it's unlockable games. This was identical to the version from the first Game & Watch Gallery except that the Modern Version had improved graphics.
