Mario Clash is a game for the Virtual Boy released by Nintendo. It is the only Mario-based action game to be made for the system and one of only two Mario games (the other being Mario's Tennis) made for the system in general. It was based on the Mario Bros. arcade game.

Story[edit]

Clash Tower has been taken over by enemies. Mario is the only one who can clear them out.

Gameplay[edit]

In Mario Clash, the player controls Mario and must try to knock enemies off a ledge by throwing a shell at them. The game's screen features two different planes (a foreground and a background) and three different floors which must be taken into account while trying to take on enemies. The only item in the game is a mushroom, which temporarily activates a Fever Time which makes Mario's shell capable of defeating any enemy.

There were 99 different levels in the game, but it lacked the ability to save any progress or high scores.

Legacy[edit]

In WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$! and WarioWare, Inc: Mega Party Games!, 9-Volt has a game based on Mario Clash.
