Lorelei was a powerful Pokémon trainer who hailed from Four Island. She specialized in Ice-type Pokémon and became a member of the Elite Four.

Background

Lorelei was the first member of the Elite Four whom Red battled in Pokémon: Red, Green, Blue, Yellow, FireRed and LeafGreen, and she was defeated. Afterwards, she returned to her home on Four Island. Several Team Rocket agents were stealing Pokémon from the island's Icefall Cave, but Lorelei was able to defeat them with the aid of Red. Lorelei then took some time off at her house, now facing a moral quandry - as her duties serving with the Elite Four in Indigo Plateau contrasted with her loyalty to her home, which needed her protection. Lorelei ultimately returned to Indigo Plateau and continued to battle Red whenever he rechallenged the Elite Four.

Lorelei was no longer a member of the Elite Four in Pokémon: Gold, Silver, and Crystal. It can be assumed from the doubts she expressed in FireRed and LeafGreen that she later retired to protect Four Island fulltime.

Pokémon Roster

Lorelei specializes in ice-type Pokémon. The Pokémon she uses in Red/Green/Blue/Yellow are the following:

In FireRed and LeafGreen, following the first Indigo Plateau battle, Lorelei incorporated a Piloswine into her team in the place of her Slowbro.

Other Games

Lorelei appeared in Pokémon Stadium as an opponent in the Gym Leader Castle along with the other Elite Four members. She used Dewgong, Cloyster, Slowbro, Jynx and Articuno in Round 1. She used Clefable, Cloyster, Exeggutor, Starmie, Omastar and Articuno in Round 2.

Lorelei, as she appeared in the anime, appeared in Pokémon Puzzle League as the thirteenth opponent of 1P Stadium Mode. She was battled after Ritchie and before Bruno, as the second member of the "Puzzle Elite Four". The Pokémon she used in this game were Cloyster, Dewgong and Poliwhirl.

Trivia

  • Lorelei appeared in an episode of the Pokémon anime, although the American version instead called her Prima. The episode was during the Orange Islands arc, and Lorelei was able to easily defeat Ash Ketchum in order to teach him a lesson about teaching his Pokémon properly.
