Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon (known in Japan as Fire Emblem: New Ankoko Ryuu to Hikari no Tsurugi and originally referred to as Fire Emblem DS) is a remake of Fire Emblem: Ankoku Ryuu to Hikari no Tsurugi that features Marth as the main character. It was announced in October 2007 during the Nintendo Conference 2007.

Story

The evil sorcerer Gharnef has revived the ancient Durhua Empire as well as the legendary dragon enemy, Medeus, and staged an invasion of Archanea. After Marth's father, king of Altea, is slain in battle, he must escaped Altea to train in order to return and reclaim the kingdom with his own army.

Gameplay

This remake does not reflect the changes from Book 1 of Monshō no Nazo, nor does it incorporate the second book (although it does foreshadow it). Like the original, it features various units that can be controlled to complete chapters by defeating enemies or claiming castles. This remake adds features from later games such as new classes and the weapons triangle. It also has a new prologue (for Normal mode) and sidequest chapters. There are also optional limited touch screen controls.

Shadow Dragon also adds some completely new features such as "reclassing", which will allow units to change class, although only to a limited extent. There is also a multiplayer mode that utilizes Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, and the player can also buy items from an online shop.
