The Bokoblin is a recurring enemy from the Zelda series that seems to be a smaller relative of Moblins. These shorter creatures are also pig-snouted, but lack hoofed legs like pig-moblins. Their size allows for agility, but they are not nearly as strong as their larger counterparts.

Information

The Wind Waker

During The Wind Waker, Bokoblins made up most of Ganondorf's pirate forces. They were scattered around the Great Sea in different locations, particularly on rafts and Pirate Outposts.

Bokoblins seem to possess more intelligence than their larger counterparts. as they were used to operate the searchlights at Forsaken Fortress. They were also armed with telescopes that they used for lookout and as a makeshift weapon. On top of that, they often would hide within pots and other objects in attempts to ambush their enemies. However, Bokoblins on guard duty also tended to be sluggish and fell asleep often. In battle they most often wielded Machetes, Boko Sticks, or Telescopes. Green Bokoblins also had shields as well.

Twilight Princess

Bokoblins appeared early in the game. Blue Bokoblins wielded wooden clubs and were defeated with ease, but Red Bokoblins wielded swords and took more hits to defeat. They were mostly found patrolling the Faron Forest and Hyrule Field. Bokoblins also appeared in large numbers outside Hyrule Castle when it was under Ganondorf's rule.

Trivia

  • Their name is derived from the common Zelda enemy 'Moblin', which gets its name from Goblin. 'Boko' likely refers to Boko Sticks, a common weapon used by Bokoblins.
  • Oddly enough, Bokoblins carry Joy Pendants in The Wind Waker.
