Background[edit]
Nephenee lived in the Crimean countryside, where she lived with her mother and family on a farm. She had six younger sisters and three triplet younger brothers. When war broke out between Crimea and Daein, Nephenee was one of the farmers to join the local militia in order to protect her family and home. However, she became self conscious about her strong country accent. The people in the militia were also ill prepared and had little battle experience. Nephenee and a fellow soldier, Brom, were helped from danger after one battle by the bishop Sephiran, but all three were then captured by Daein forces and imprisoned in Canteus Castle.
The three remained imprisoned until they were freed by Ike and the mercenaries in "Chapter 10: Prisoner Release". They then met with the Princess Elincia, whose existence had been a secret from the Crimean public. After hearing her plan, they decided to remain serving Elincia and traveled with the mercenaries, who later became the Crimean Liberation Army. Nephenee became much more experienced as she fought through many battles, and after the war ended she decided to return home and boast to all his friends and family about her experiences.
Three years later in Radiant Dawn, Nephenee suited up in her armor again in order to suppress an attempted uprising against Queen Elincia in Ohma in "Chapter 1: Winds of Rebellion" of "Part 2: Of Countries and Kings". She got Brom to get in armor to help her, but when her attempts to dissuade them through words failed, they had to take out the angry mob. Afterwards, they learned that Lord Ludveck was behind the rebellion and traveled to Crimea Castle to warn Queen Elincia. The two then accompanied Lucia in her investigation of Ludveck's manor in "Chapter 2: Tides of Intrigue" and also aided Elincia in the final fight with Lord Ludveck in "Endgame: Elincia's Gambit".
Brom and Nephenee were then among the people whom Ike called in to aid the Laguz Alliance Army in "Part 3: Intersecting Vows", arriving in the beginning of "Chapter 2: Stormclouds".
After these wars ended, Nephenee went to live with her family in Melior. Unlike Brom, she did wield her lance several more times in the future to protect Crimea.
Support Conversation Summaries[edit]
In Path of Radiance, Nephenee is capable of having Support conversations with three other characters.
- Brom- In the first conversation, Brom and Nephenee reminisce about farm life and talk about their families. Brom hopes his children are taking care of their mother like they should, and Nephenee assures him that they are. In the next conversation, they share their early experiences in the militia and how ill-prepared they were for battle while they search for the barracks. Brom suggests Nephenee ask someone where their barracks are, but she tells Brom to do it instead because she is too embarrassed by her country accent. In the third conversation, Brom notes that Nephenee doesn't talk to many people because she is afraid of people making fun of her heavy accent. However, he tells her to pretend she is in her home village and convinces her to smile, then he tells her that the young men in the army won't be able to take their eyes for her with a smile like that.
- Devdan- Devdan approaches Nephenee and notes that she looks angry all the time and offers to teach her how to laugh, but Nephenee is frightened of him and asks him not to hurt her. In the next conversation, he tries teaching her how to laugh and says that her fear of him upsets him. He tells her the story of a girl he knew from a village who was too serious, and she got killed by bandits, and he wants to prevent Nephenee from befalling a similar fate. Nephenee then begins to call for help from the commander. In the final conversation, Nephenee attempts to ward off Devdan by approaching him and smiling, and constantly tries to prevent Devdan from remembering the dead girl and becoming upset. Finally Nephenee decides to smile and back away slowly.
- Calill- In the first conversation, Calill recognizes Nephenee's phobia of speaking due to her country accent, and claims to recognize this in Nephenee because she had a friend with a similar problem. Calill decides to teach her how to talk like a proper city lady. In the second conversation, Calill continues giving advice to Nephenee and bemoans that she hides her pretty face and figure beneath her helmet and all her armor. In the final conversation, Nephenee gives Calill a beddle nut, but when Calill knows the proper way to open it, Nephenee figures out that Calill once was a country girl herself. Knowing this gives Nephenee hope that she could eventually become as sophisticated as Calill.
