Debut Zelda II: The Adventure of Link

Iron Knuckles are large armored warriors commonly found as guardians for palaces, dungeons, and temples. Thanks to their thick armor and skilled combat skills, they are difficult to defeat.

Information

In Adventure of Link, Iron Knuckles wield a sword and shield and fight at close range. The blue variations can shoot sword beams like Link. The boss "Rebonack" is also an Iron Knuckle that rides a floating armored horse. Iron Knuckles would often be found as statues. Sometimes these statues would yield useful objects like magic containers, but were often the hiding place for an Iron Knuckle that would come out to attack.

In Ocarina of Time, Iron Knuckles were larger armored warriors that instead wielded large battle-axes in combat. Link fought four Iron Knuckles during his quest. The first he had to face as a child, but the rest as an adult - including particularly strong ones in Ganon's Tower. After Nabooru had been caught by Twinrova, she was transformed into an Iron Knuckle for seven years until Link defeated her and set her free in the Spirit Temple. Link also faces Iron Knuckles in Majora's Mask. The Curiosity Shop even appears to have Iron Knuckle armor stored in the back of the shop.

Trivia

  • Darknuts and Iron Knuckles have similar Japanese names. Those being Tatonakku and Aian'nakku respecitvely.
  • Onix in Oracle of Seasons wears armor identical to those worn by the Iron Knuckles in Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask.
