Well, I know that Gamefreak uploaded all the images with the best intention of helping, but know what are we gonna do with all the water-marked images? Can they be deleated or not? Because if a purge is inminent I would also like to request to purge the rest of them in favor of some others. Wikipedia[edit]
I'm not sure if you noticed this, but Wikipedia's so-called Pokemon Project went on the offensive in reducing the Pokemon pages all to short summarized lists. Since the content of all those old articles are no longer in use, it may be worth salvaging them for use on the Gamehiker Wiki. Obviously they would have to be edited to some degree to fit our own page setup, but its a thought worth considering.
How does everyone feel on the matter? Should I discuss it on the Project Pokemon page on the Wikipedia? Let me know. -Masamune 12:59, 25 October 2007 (MDT)
- That depends on what you define as encyclopedic content for the GH. I mean, most of the content is Info about appearances in the anime (what nobody wants in a serious game encyclopedia), TCG info (same as the latter) and some random and mostly unsourced and obvious comments like: "Psyduck is a duck but it can't learn Flying moves". The most useable part is the info of where to catch them in the games and more or less the info of where the names come from. Smash Brother 13:40, 25 October 2007 (MDT)

- Not really, I just noticed while doing slight research that the first person uploading Pokemon images took them from Bulbapedia, Gamefreak is still uploading images from Pokemon-Safari.com (Awesome Radio section, BTW). I really don't like takeing content from other sites unless the permission is granted but around the web it seems that everybody just takes whatever they like from other pages and use it as their own. - GORE has been working on a Pokemon gallery for some time now. But I don't really care where the images come from. They are, after all, the property of Nintendo and not the site owners no matter how much they may say to the otherwise (and that's why I don't care when people lift stuff from the gallery). But I disagree about people not clicking the images. I personally go to the image pages quiet often. Sometimes the thumbnail picture isn't enough. When I'm looking at an article, I often go to the image itself to give me a better idea of what I'm looking at.
- In any case, my idea was to go with what you had in mind, but whenever an article is 'completed' with information, I'll replace the image with a higher res one. It will still have the same proportions (and thus have no effect on the article's appearance), but since it will be a finished entry, it will need a full sized image. And to that extent, I will replace the image myself. But for all the other ones, the typical thumbnailed images that you've suggested would be sufficient.
- To that end, there is already an optional field in the template to resize images. We'll just leave it that way. The images you upload can just be ones that'll be the right size for displaying in the infobox (so dimensions no larger than 250x250). How does that sound? -Masamune 13:39, 6 July 2008 (MDT)
- Too complicated, I say that if you want one kind of images point me to them all at once so I can upload them all the first time and not having to replace them all just because it doesn't matter for the article itself it is a big image shown smaller or a image as big as it is in the file already. That way I could work the size of the images everytime I finish one Poke instead of having to do it after everything.
