Debut Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!

Don Flamenco is a boxer appearing as an opponent in the Punch-Out!! games.

Background

Don Flamenco is a flamboyant Spaniard showsman. His cutscenes for the Wii games show that in Spain he works as a matador, taking down bulls with simple uppercuts in order to impress ladies. He is also vain and wears a toupee, which he appreciates as his own hair. Strangely enough, he even admires the hair of the referee Mario. As a boxer, he is primarily known for his uppercuts and his general strategy of taunting the enemy into attacking him and then trying to counter them. Before each battle, he will dance with a rose in his mouth.

Within Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! he is first battled as the #3 contender of the Major Circuit. He is easily defeated at first, as after sinking one punch into him, it is possible to continue punching him until he is knocked out. However, he reappears as the #2 fighter in the World Circuit, where he cannot be defeated so easily and is a faster and tougher opponent in general.

He reappears in the Wii Punch-Out!! as the champion of the Major Circuit. He is a much tougher fighter this time around, despite still relying on his basic strategy of taunting the opponent into attacking him and then attempting to counter them. He additionally has a special attack where he, after stepping back and counting to three, will attempt to assail Little Mac with a series of hard-to-dodge hooks followed by an uppercut. He becomes even more difficult after losing his toupee, when he begins attacking in a rage. He can be battled again in Title Defense mode, where he wears darker clothing and has a new attack scheme.
