Murkrow is a Pokémon that is feared and hated by many due to belief that it will bring misfortune to all who see it at night. It has also been said that when chased, Murkrow will lure their pursers to dark mountain trails or forests, where they will get lost. They have a strong interest in anything that sparkles will even try to steal rings from women. Murkrow and Meowth have been known to steal from each other's stashes of shiny objects.

Murkrow is a primarily nocturnal Pokémon and, according to the Johto games, is apparently capable of mimicking human speech. It evolves into Honchcrow when exposed to the Dusk Stone.

Other Appearances
*Murkrow have made various appearances in the Pokémon anime. Near the end of the Johto arc, a group of Murkrow stole Ash's badges, and they had to get them back. Mischief-causing Murkrow have also appeared in some of the Pokémon shorts. During the Diamond/Pearl episodes, Paul had a Murkrow that evolved into a Honchcrow between episodes.

*In the Pokémon Adventures manga, all three main characters of the Gold/Silver/'"Crystal arc caught a Murkrow, but only Silver kept it on his team as one of his main Pokémon, and it later evolved into a Honchkrow in the HeartGold/SoulSilver arc. Karen also had a pair of Murkrow in her appearance.

Trivia
*Its name is a combination of "murky" and "crow", and may also be derived from "murder", which can mean a flock of crows.
