Yeta is a kindly yeti who appears in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. While under the influence of a shard of the Mirror of Twilight, she temporarily acts as the boss character Blizzeta.

Background[edit]

Yeta was the wife of Yeto who lived with him at the Snowpeak Ruins on Snowpeak Mountain. Like her husband, she spoke in stilted and simplistic sentences. Yeta was somewhat outgoing and often joined her husband when he went sledding. She was actually better than him, but it is uncertain if he was actually aware of this. When Yeto found a shard of the Mirror of Twilight, he brought it home to Yeta due to being uncertain of its nature. Yeta's contact with the shard made her sick, and the shard also attracted monsters to the manor. They locked the shard in the bedroom to stop this, and the key was hidden in the manner. As Yeta's fever increased, she became less coherent, and Yeto endeavored to make her soup to help her feel better.

She greeted Link when he arrived and tried to give him directions to the location of the key. She wound up giving him wrong directions twice, which instead led to food items that Yeto wound up using for his soup. Yeta apologized both times and then finally gave him accurate directions. She felt better after drinking Yeto's soup and decided to escort Link to the bedroom. However, once they entered the room, Yeta was corrupted by the mirror shard and claimed it as her own. Its dark power changed her into the Twilit Ice Mass, Blizzeta. She was encased within ice, but Link was able to defeat her with the help of his newly found Ball and Chain. Yeta was restored to normal after being defeated and was not sure what had just happened. Yeto quickly arrived to comfort her, convincing her that she had just been dreaming and reminding her that he loved her. Yeto and Yeta then produced a steady stream of hearts, one of which transformed into a Heart Container.

After she recovered, Yeta sent Link a letter apologizing for her behavior and inviting him back to the mountain. Yeta monitored Link and Yeto's sledding races. After Link beat Yeto, she challenged him to a sled race. If Link won, she realized that she must have been overconfident and guessed that Link's secret was that his slim body made him more aerodynamic. Yeta secretly gave Link a Heart Container out of respect for his sled skills and asked him not to tell Yeto while inviting him to come back for more sledding. During the credits, Yeto and Yeta were represented only through a single heart floating from the Snowpeak Ruins.

Trivia[edit]

  • Her and Yeto's names are plays on "yeti", following the Spanish scheme of male names ending in "o" while female names end in "a". The name "Blizzeta" is simply derived from combining Yeta's name with "blizzard".
  • According to supplementary materials, she is around 30 years old "in yeti years".
  • It is uncertain whether Yeta is wearing a large sweater or has fur with a sweater-like pattern. This also leads to confusion regarding the status of her arms.
  • A trophy of Yeta appears in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
