Type Unknown
Size 112mm
Debut Pikmin 2

The Waterwraith is a humanoid, translucent creature and a boss from the game Pikmin 2. The origin of the Waterwraith is left extremely vague, it appears to be some sort of spectral entity, explaining the "wraith" (ghost) portion of it's name; The Ship also makes a comment that the Waterwraith's true, physical form may be anchored in another dimension.

In Pikmin 2[edit]

The Waterwraith is only encountered in the Submerged Castle, one of the Perplexing Pool's underground caverns that is only accessible by Blue Pikmin. One of the unique features of the Waterwraith is that, if players take too long on one of the Submerged Castle's levels, it will appear and begin to chase down and attack the player and their Pikmin. Players can't attack the Waterwraith, as Pikmin will simply bounce off it.

It is only in the bottom level of the Submerged Castle that the Waterwraith can be fought; players will need to use some nearby Violet Candypop Buds to create Purple Pikmin. Hitting the Waterwraith with a Purple Pikmin will cause it to become vulnerable to attack. Once sufficient damage has been done to the Waterwraith, it will lose it's stone rollers an become completely defenceless and be forced to comically run from the player and their Pikmin. Eventually, when enough damage is dealt to the Waterwraith, it will evaporate and leave behind the Professional Noisemaker

Challenge Mode[edit]

  • Two Waterwraiths also appear in Pikmin 2's Challenge Mode in the Bully Den; after thirty seconds pass in the Bully Den, the two Waterwraiths will fall from the sky and begin to attack.

Scientific Report[edit]

  • The Waterwraith leaves nothing behind when it is killed.
  • Olimar's Notes
    • All that is known about this creature stems from a few sightings deep underground. All reported sightings feature the same core sets of details: a giant, viscous form with a clear, hazy sheen not unlike hard candy. One theory holds that it may be the ectoplasmic incarnation of a kind of psychic phenomenon, but as is usually the case with such theories, it is very difficult to prove. All witnesses report being suddenly overcome with fear upon sighting the creature, approaching a state of panic and near insanity. In fact, every report contains an inordinate amount of extremely vague details, which has led to suspicion that exhaustion and fear have caused some simple natural phenomenon to be viewed as a living creature.
