Vibrava is a vibrating antlion-like Pokémon that was introduced in the third generation games. It is the middle form of Trapinch's evolutionary line and evolves into Flygon.

Information[edit]

Vibrava evolves from Trapinch at Level 35. Its wings are not yet fully grown, so they are unsuited for flying long distances. Rather, Vibrava's wings are useful for generating ultrasonic waves when vibrated. These vibrations can faint opponents and cause headaches for people due to their potency. Vibrava usually use acid to melt their prey once fainted. It evolves into Flygon starting at Level 45.

Appearances[edit]

Mainstream Games[edit]

In most games, it could be obtained primarily through evolution of a Trapinch. In Pokémon: Diamond and Pearl Versions, it could appear at Route 228 when using the Pokéradar. In HeartGold and SoulSilver, it could appear at the Safari Zone's Desert area if enough Forest objects were present.

Other Games[edit]

In Pokémon Colosseum, a Shadow Vibrava could be snagged from Cipher Peon Remil at the Shadow Pokémon Laboratory, and after being purified it could be traded to any of the third generation color versions. In Pokémon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire, it could be found in the Wilderness on the Sapphire Field. In Pokémon Trozei!, it appeared at Secret Storage 6 and Mr. Who's Den. In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Teams, it could be recruited at the twelfth through twentieth floors of Southern Cavern and the tenth through sixteenth floors of Wyvern Hill. Vibrava could also be recruited in Explorers of Time and Darkness at Quicksand Cave.

Other Appearances[edit]

Other Media[edit]

  • In the Pokémon anime, Vibrava were briefly shown at the end of a Hoenn episode in which a group of Trapinch evolved at an underwater lake, and they helped Ash's group to escape the underground labyrinth. Vibrava have also made minor appearances in various other episodes, including belonging to several different coordinators during the Battle Frontier series, including Brianna.
  • In the Pokémon Adventures manga, Vibrava were shown to belong to members of Team Aqua members such as Matt and Shelly during the Ruby/Sapphire arc, and they used Vibrava as mounts while spying on and then fighting several of the Hoenn gym leaders.

Trivia[edit]

  • Its name seems to be a combination of "vibrate" and "larva".
