The Spirit Flute (also known as the Spirit Pipes in the PAL release) is an enchanted musical instrument that is featured as the musical instrument for The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks.

Information[edit]

The Spirit Flute is a special pan flute that originally belonged to the Lokomo Tribe. It was one of their sacred instruments, and when the Hyruleans settled in the land, Anjean gave it to Tetra as a gift under the condition that she help to protect the land. It was passed down the royal family to the young Princess Zelda in Spirit Tracks. Tetra had previously used it to play for Zelda when she was young. Zelda did not know of its powers, but she still felt that it would be useful and had Link hold it when she was separated from her body.

They later met Anjean, who told them about the truth about the Spirit Flutes. Zelda offered to return it to her, but Anjean assured her that they could keep it to aid in their adventure. It wound up being quite useful to Link in his quests, as he could learn a variety of helpful songs from the various Sound Stones. Its more important function was that Link used the Spirit Flutes to take part in duets with the other Lokomo he met at the sanctuaries for the various realms. These Lokomo Songs restored more of the Spirit Tracks and usually opened paths to new temples. Link used the Spirit Flute once more during the final battle for a duet with Princess Zelda's voice. This focused her sacred power and exposed the weak spot on Malladus's back. The Spirit Flute was not seen after the final battle, so it is not sure which of the two heroes kept it.

Trivia[edit]

  • The Spirit Flute's songs are uniquely played by using the DS's touchscreen and blowing into its microphone.
  • Each of the Spirit Flute's five pipes has a color corresponding to the colors representing the five regions of New Hyrule and their respective Lokomos.
