Scottie (male) and Bettie (female) are the designated names for the playable protagonist from Pokémon Masters. Like most protagonists from the main Pokémon games, their name is chosen by the player. Various aspects of their appearance can also be customized by the player.

Background[edit]

The player character's home region and life before the game have not been shared. Scottie/Bettie arrived in Pasio to take part in the Pokémon Masters League. They were greeted by Blue upon arrival. They quickly formed a team with Brock and Misty. Afterwards, they traveled across Pasio and recruited trainers from various regions. They also defeated five PML leaders in order to earn the badges necessary to take part in the PML tournament. Along the way, they also met Paolo, a trainer who struggled with his insecurities about his strength compared to Scottie/Bettie. They also encountered Lear, the person running the island who shunned the notions of friendship, bonds and teamwork. Lear easily defeated Scottie/Bettie in their first encounter. Scottie/Bettie also had a number of run-ins with Team Break, an organization that was stealing Pokémon across the island.

Scottie/Bettie later took part in the Pokémon World Masters tournament and made it to the finals. Along the way, they also battled Lear again, when he tried to force them out of the tournament, and they were able to win that battle.

Pokémon Roster[edit]

In Pokémon Masters, each trainer can use only one Pokémon for a battle. Scottie/Bettie's default partner is a Pikachu. There have been other optional Pokémon that the player could recruit: a Torchic gained from an extra scenario at the end of Chapter 20 and a Solgaleo that could be recruited in the "The Beast that Devours the Sun" Legendary Event.

Pokémon Eggs were also later introduced into the game, through which Scottie/Bettie could gain Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle, all of which could be evolved. Regirock and Cobalion could also be obtained through Battle Points.

Trivia[edit]

  • Scottie and Bettie's names are both derived from the word "tie".
