Roggenrola is a small rock-like Pokémon that was introduced in the fifth generation games. It is the first in a three-step evolutionary line, with its evolved forms being Boldore and Gigalith.

Background[edit]

Roggenrola is a species that was discovered a hundred years ago within an earthquake fissure. Each individual Roggenrola contains its own energy core. They have been compressed underground, which makes their bodies harder than steel. They also have ears which are hexagonal in shape.

A Roggenrola will evolve into Boldore at Level 25.

Appearances[edit]

Mainstream Games[edit]

In Pokémon: Black and White Versions, Roggenrola appeared commonly within the Wellspring Cave.

Other Games[edit]

In Pokémon Rumble Blast, Roggenrola could be found at the Volcanic Slope's lava area. In PokéPark 2: Wonders Beyond, it appeared at the Train Depot in the Tech Area and was befriended by defeating it in battle.

Other Appearances[edit]

Other Media[edit]

  • In the Pokémon anime, Ash caught a Roggenrola during the Black and White series. Ash's group met the Roggenrola in an episode wherein Team Rocket was stealing wild Roggenrola to harvest their cannons. Ash teamed up with the Roggenrola to save them, and after they all worked together to defeat Team Rocket, the Roggenrola agreed to a battle with Ash and was caught. It was shown to have an advanced sense of hearing. It evolved into Boldore while fighting Clay's Excadrill.
  • In the Pokémon Adventures manga, Roggenrola was first shown in an early chapter of the Black/White arc as part of the team of Hiker Andy, the first trainer whom Black actually battled, in a three-on-three fight.

Trivia[edit]

  • Its name is a play on "rock and roller", as in the genre of music.
