Debut Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

Rawk Hawk the final opponent faced in the Glitz Pit of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and a boss in the third chapter.

Background[edit]

Champion of the Glitzville Arena, Rawk Hawk is known for his inflated ego and his hundreds of fans. His nickname in the arena is the 'Feral Nuclear Reactor'. But while he is a tough fighter, he relies on trickery as well to make sure he stays on top. He is not above poisoning his opponents or threatening them. Extremely defensive of his title, he is extremely protective of his ranking. He was able to be the top man for some time until the 'Great Gonzales' appeared in Glitzville - none other than Mario himself.

When Mario quickly began ascending the ranks, at first he was somewhat kinder about it. He even complimented Mario on coming up so high, until Mario's friend pointed out his prized championship belt was a fake (and not the real Crystal Star). Afterwards, as Mario continued to ascend, he started using dirtier tactics. This varied from warning Mario personally and then giving him a cake with poison inside. Despite his trickery, he was uninvolved in the overall plot Grubba was orchestrating in the background. After his defeat, he grudgingly gave up his position. After Mario defeated Grubba, Rawk Hawk vowed to work hard to be a real fighter instead of using dirty tricks.

Bowser later stumbled upon Rawk Hawk in a secret training area he had in the Rogueport Sewers and, thinking Rawk Hawk's fake Crystal Star was a real one, took him on in battle and easily defeated Rawk Hawk. Rawk had one final bout with Mario when the 'Great Gonzales' dominated the arena again. Despite maintaining his 'legendary status' and prideful boasting, he once more got RAWKED. But despite that, he was still kept around. Jolene made specific plans to keep him around, being he was such a good crowd pleaser. He was also seen among those who cheered Mario on through the Crystal Star during his final battle with the Shadow Queen, claiming that anyone who beat him was not allowed to lose.

Trivia[edit]
