Pignite is a musclebound pig-like Pokémon that was introduced in the fifth generation games. It is the middle stage of Tepig's evolutionary line, with its evolved form being Emboar.

Information[edit]

Pignite evolves from Tepig at Level 17. In the transition between forms, Pignite gains muscles (becoming part Fighting-type) and becomes bipedal. Pignite has an internal fire within its stomach that seems to be the source of its flame abilities. This internal fire is fueled by anything that Pignite eats. Its movements become sharper and faster when the fire is flaring up, and it emits smoke when in trouble. The intensity of Pignite's flame increases when it is angry.

It evolves into Emboar at Level 36.

Appearances[edit]

Mainstream Games[edit]

In the color versions, Pignite can only be obtained by evolving a Tepig.

Other Games[edit]

In Pokémon Rumble Blast, Pignite was found at the meadow area of Trailhead Field and the lava areas of Volcanic Slope and World Axle's first basement floor. In PokéPark 2: Wonders Beyond, it could appear at Cove Town where it had to be defeated by Tepig to be befriended.

Other Appearances[edit]

Other Media[edit]

  • Pignite has debuted in the Pokémon anime's Black and White series as Bianca's starter Pokémon. Although it lost in its battle against Ash's team, this Pignite was able to carry Bianca through her first two gym challenges but lost her battle with Elesa. She nearly traded Pignite for a Zorua once, but she ultimately relented.
  • In the Pokémon Adventures manga, Black's Tepig evolved into a Pignite during his gym battle with Burgh during the Black/White arc. Black had initially tried to hold back the Tepig's evolution for the sake of the popularity of his and White's Tepig acting together in the BW Agency. White was able to salvage this situation by changing their marketing so that the Pignite was the big boyfriend of her female Tepig. Through the evolution, the Pignite was shown to gain strength to match its speed, and Black adjusted its nickname to match this form.

Trivia[edit]

  • Its name is a play on "ignite" (which relates to starting fires) combined with "pig".
